Have you ever booked with Delta airline? Refundable experiences?

The flight I was going to book with WestJet has gone up $300. However, this same flight is offered by Delta (operated by Westjet) for $600 less with a refundable ticket. I prefer flying Canadian for customer service (I had a terrible experience with United airlines that made me weary of booking American again).
Anyone booked with Delta before from Canada? Any issues? Is their refundable ticket actually refundable (just in case) or is it only refundable for 24 hours and after that you have to pay a processing fee that works out to the cost of the ticket?
Thank you for any insights you have.

Our last few trips have been Westjet because I have a Westjet Elite card.

However from 2008 to 2015 we flew to Orlando mostly using Delta. There was a flight through Minneapolis we took every year. The experience was mostly positive from what I remember.

We took a flight back one year through United and it was horrible. Never again.

We have flown Delta a bunch of times and never had any real problems. We did have one trip where our SNA-SEA flight was not only oversold but it was running really late. They kept upping the amount they were offering to get people to volunteer to be bumped but no takers. We were on the plane when they asked for 3 people to volunteer and offered $1000 US/person. There were 3 of us and we were not going to make our connection SEA-YYJ anyways so we jumped at the chance! Ended up in SNA for about 5 extra hours and got $3000 US credits to use. We ended up using the credits to fly all 3 of us round trip YYJ-MCO in first class which was VERY nice!

DH and I have an upcoming trip with Delta in November and they have changed one of our return flights twice now. The first time the change was not that big of a deal but the second one had us landing in Minneapolis 5 minutes AFTER our next flight was taking off. I called Delta and ended up changing flights to ones that are actually better for no extra cost.

Same. We're flying WJ now because of our card, but it used to be Delta all the way. Incredibly superior experience for the same cost (or less).

Having said that, our last Delta flight was technically a codeshare with WJ, so it was actually on WJ planes with WJ staff and WJ customer service. It was not as nice.

Booked with Delta today - did buy the trip insurance just in case. The flight itself is operated by WestJet. Fingers crossed all goes well - will be our first trip back in four years!
