Have you ever been upgraded from a 1 Bedroom to a 2 Bedroom upon arrival?

This tops it all - In January, for one night only, my wife and I were upgraded from a HHI studio to a GRAND VILLA!

VGV upgraded us from a standard studio to the Walt Disney Suite! It was a one night reservation and we were celebrating my daughter’s graduation. It didn’t happen until check-in, when they saw we were sad our assigned room wouldn’t be ready until after 5 pm. We asked if another room was available... and were sprinkled with amazing pixie dust. Most memorable Disney night ever!!!

Walt Disney Suite? Where is that. I’ve heard of Cinderella Castle suite.

It is in the main building at GF (not DVC) on Club Level. It was enormous and absolutely amazing! Along with the magnificent suite we got to enjoy all of the Club Level amenities.

We were once "upgraded" from a BWV standard view 1 bedroom to a preferred 1 bedroom (Pool/Garden view). I did not ask nor did I want the upgrade (because I actually prefer the standard view locations). The CM was surprised we weren't happy about it when she told us, but since it was ready immediately, we took it. As I recall, someone in the party of 2 desperately wanted to watch some football or basketball game. Wasn't me. Don't know why we got "lucky". We weren't charged extra points - I made sure of that before accepting. Room was a nice corner room, but I still missed the sv location.

I was upgraded from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom at OKW once.

My brother was upgraded from a studio to a 2 bedroom at HH once.

I was upgraded from a 1 bedroom standard to a 1 bedroom preferred at BWV once. But then they charged my credit card rack rate for the room. They couldn't reverse the charge until after I checked out. And the view was blocked by a big tree.
All in all it would have been better to just have had the standard view to begin with.

All of those were 10+ years ago.

We were upgraded from a MK view studio at BLT to a 1 bdrm Lake view for 9 nights! Our booked room was taken out of service due to a busted door. I'm sure it was timing. The 1 bdrm must have been taken out of cash inventory, because we got daily mousekeeping. The location was in the dead center of the 'C'. The view was great!

We were upgraded last year in Nov. at BLT from a 1-bed to 2-bed for 5 nights. I didn’t ask why—too busy saying thank you We arrived late at night so we were probably last check in?

My upgrade experiences:
1. Once cause of over booking at VWL:
Booked a studio at VWL, when we tried to check-in, we had been upgraded to a WL 2 bedroom lake view suite. Called some family members to come and join us for an unexpected vacation.
2. Once cause of problem with check-in at AKL:
Booked a standard view studio at AKL-Jambo, checked-in, given a room key as the room was supposed to be ready, went to the room, and found suitcases and purse in the room along with the room not being made up. Went back to the front desk, they gave us an on-the-spot upgrade to a savanna view room in another part of the resort plus four free breakfasts.
3. DCL
Reserved an inside stateroom on DVC points but were upgraded to an ocean view room. We did not find out about the upgrade until we got to the room, what a surprise that was. When our luggage arrived it still had the old room number's tags on them.
4. AKL-Jambo
Booked a standard view room at 5 days out due to a last minute change in home plans. Given a Savanna View room.
5. AKL-Jambo
Got another upgrade in Aug ‘16. Reserved a standard studio, on Sunday before leaving the house checked status of points, made a reservation, etc; found that I had more points in my account than I should have and points in Holding that should not of been there. On the way from home to AKL, I called MS, asked for a status of my points, and they stated they saw the same thing on their system.
After being put on hold, MS came back with an explanation, stating that we had been upgraded from a standard to a full-savanna view room. The points in holding are there for the backroom process of the upgrade. Checked my points on Sunday evening and everything is correct. The room we were given was 5268 with no pen in the view except across the savanna.
6. DCL
Reserved a Wonder inside stateroom 11-C 2nd Deck on DVC points but we were upgraded to an 11-B 6th Deck room in Feb ‘19.

We were upgraded once for an unknown reason back in 2007.
We had booked a 1BR at VWL & when we walked into the villa, it was a 2BR.
Our stay was 10 days & very enjoyable.

We were upgraded from a BW view Studio to a Pool/Garden view 1 bdrm, for a thirteen day stay (upgrades seem more likely on short stays so this was a huge surprise). We were actually thinking about turning it down ( ❤ our BW view!), but changed our minds once we saw we were over the Village Green with a HUGE balcony, and amazing views. And it couldn't have happened at a better time, as my nephew decided to come at the last minute.

While we weren't charged for the upgrade, it still cost us thousands once we remembered how much we loved the 1 bdrm - and added another contract shortly thereafter.

My friends were upgraded at OKW last March. They booked pretty last minute and took a 2 bedroom as I recall. When they got there, they were upgraded to the Grand Villa. Sent me a ton of pictures and video of the room. It was only for 1 night before they moved to BLT to the 1 bedroom for the rest of their stay.
