Have you ever been upgraded from a 1 Bedroom to a 2 Bedroom upon arrival?

Staying at BLT next week in a 1 bedroom with 5 people. Since the other 3 people were added to the ressie later, we tried to wait list for a 2 bedroom, but that didn't come through. Hoping for a little pixie dust on arrival!

If there are no rooms available to book, there are no rooms available for upgrades.

You can ask at check-in and pay the extra points if something happens to be available due to a last minute cancellation or no-show. Complimentary upgrades occur on VERY rare occasions, only when the booked room is unexpectedly taken out of service for maintenance. And when handing out these maintenance upgrades, they typically look for the guest with the shortest reservation (as little as 1-2 nights, just enough to address whatever issues exist in the unusable room).

Unfortunately that would be a truck load of Pixie Dust.

Best hope is that they have one pulled out of inventory for some reason (trying to rent it out for cash) and no one has taken it yet.

But we did receive a little pixie dust once and were upgraded from a studio to a 1br at BWV for no apparent reason. It was perfect because it was a rainy week and we enjoyed having a washer and drier in the room!

If, for some reason, they were able to upgrade you and charge you the points, be sure to check your account after as people have reported that when the resort front desks touch accounts, things can be done wrong,

As mentioned, there are very, very few times people are moved and only when there is a reason, whether or not that reason is shared.

Of course, it does t hurt to ask if you can change to a 2 bedroom at check in for something that happened last minute, as long as you are prepared to cover the actual cost in points if that pixiedust is granted!

Studio to a 1BR is a lot easier than 1 to 2.

I own at both BLT and AKV. I have never received an upgrade at BLT. However, twice received upgrade at AKV. Once we asked for and were told we could have connecting Studios, only thing is when we get there (it was Kidani) we where told there are no connecting studios, so they upgraded us to 2 BR--Everyone LOVED it. Second time, we booked a 1 BR when they were having a refurb, can you believe they were AHEAD of schedule and our rooms were being Refurb and the only thing available was a 2 BR. Sometimes you just have to be lucky.

I was recently upgraded from a HH OKW studio to an HH OKW 2 bedroom...I was the only one in the room...I felt bad as it was such a waste of space, but I sure did enjoy the balcony...and I went home with clean clothes...it was a three night stay.

My wife and I were upgraded from a studio to a dedicated two bedroom once at Boulder Ridge. We were only staying for one night and did not ask for an upgrade. When we went to check in they confirmed a two bedroom and we said no it should be a studio. After some checking we found out we were upgraded to a two bedroom with them only using studio points. The only thing I can think of was they needed a studio so some one would not have to move and they gave us the only thing that they had left.

As others have said, highly unlikely.
Sorry.

I have heard this happen before. We booked a BWV standard studio on cash before we were DVC members, and got upgraded to a P/G 1br! Now that I know how quickly standard anything at BWV goes, and also how hard it is to get studios there, I am thinking this is a great way to introduce someone to DVC and get them interested... 🤔

If you reserved through Disney, even though it says standard, it is actually a pool/garden view studio that cash guests get.

Of course, doesn’t change how nice it was to go to the 1 bedroom!

Ok...it was only for one night, but VGF gave us a two bedroom when we booked a studio! They sent us a cake....we invited friends over to share. It was for our 50 wedding anniversary.

I have kept the “Bill” on line. Shows no charge for a two bedroom!

VGV upgraded us from a standard studio to the Walt Disney Suite! It was a one night reservation and we were celebrating my daughter’s graduation. It didn’t happen until check-in, when they saw we were sad our assigned room wouldn’t be ready until after 5 pm. We asked if another room was available... and were sprinkled with amazing pixie dust. Most memorable Disney night ever!!!

Not sure how you added 3 to a reservation for 5 in a one bedroom. I didn't think the system would even allow that.
Regardless, I wouldn't count on the upgrade, but the extra 3 could probably book a room at the Contemporary and be nearby.

I think OP had 2 on the reservation and then added 3 to make 5.

Were you able to add the 1 yr old to the reservation?

We added 3 to a reservation for 2, making it a total of 5. I am aware of the occupancy rules.....
