Have you ever been busted for sneaking food into the movies?

i ALWAYS bring a bottle of water. they don't have the brand i prefer and it's obviously cheaper to bring your own than pay those marked up prices. i also bring my own red licorice twizzlers / or cherry bits.

My wife and I always buy our soda and popcorn at the theater, but sometimes we'll bring in some M&Ms or other candy.

That being said, a couple months ago I went to see a movie with my pregnant honey. We arrived a little early to get a good seat and then the theater mostly filled up. Two women parked themselves a few seats down from us. As the movie started, they began unpacking their meals. I'm not sure what they were eating, but it was noisy and stinky. The stench of it quickly started to make Cathy nauseous. This left me little choice but to complain to the theater manager, who kicked their butts out of the theater.

We bring in our own water but we eat before the movie but I have to do something with my hands so I always buy twizzlers or sour patch kids or cookie dough bites

I always bring in drinks and have never been caught! In my younger days, a friend and I brought in McD's. Let's say we had big purses! The other weekend dh and I went to a movie, but we were there att he wrong time. We didn't realize this until we had our tickets and popcorn and walked into the theater and saw the movie was half over! We had to exchange them for a later time and I snuck back in that huge bag of popcorn, too!
So, no, I've never been caught!

I remember when I work at AMC, they told us in training that outside food was allowed as long as it did not have an odor. If it smelled and someone complained, you would be asked to leave.

Occasionally I'll buy some Milk Duds if I remember, but other than that I always buy my drink and popcorn at the theatre. I don't really think the food is that expensive and AMC always has the deals going on.

I first want to say, I'm soo proud of DISers today :goodvibes Before I opened this thread, I saw the title and thought...oh,...here we go, someone is going to flame those who bring in their own candy and go off on some tangent on how its wrong and we are stealing their profit....
But...yay...its a nice day today :flower3:

The most we ever brought in was those boxes of candy that sell for around $4 a box there but only 88 cents to a dollar in Wal Mart or Target. Would be to nervous to try to smuggle in drinks for fear of what happened to the OP.
Thats me... no drinks, but I bring candy. I always buy a drink, and their NACHOS :)

My former roommate talked me into bringing an ice cream cone in with me and said she and her ex-husband had snuck Chinese food in before....she was very sketchy, though.

LMAO...sketchy

I have a kid with food allergies so yes I bring her snacks at times.

But in college friends and I tried to sneak in with beer and yes we got caught and thrown out. !! I don't know what we were thinking 'cause I for 1 was already buzzed.

We always bring along drinks and candy snacks, but we do buy the movie popcorn, love that greasy popcorn........LOL

When I was little a friend of my grandmothers got kicked out of a theatre while on vacation for bringing in food. Later that evening the theatre was bombed and several people died. My grandmother considers this a sign from God that it is necessary to bring food in to movie theatres, we never go without at least a bag of popcorn.

Wow!! This gave me chills! Definately a "it was meant to happen this way..." kind of story!

We always bring in our own drinks and snacks, we have kids with food allergies and just too pricy otherwise for us!
Sometimes we will splurge on a "kid's pack" at the dollar theater for a special treat...

We went last week & I brought in little Nerd boxes (the 1 inch size so small) & I had some other small candy (left over Valentines/Easter) so I gave that to my kids but I did buy water.

I called the movie theater but they didn't answer. My ds has food allergies (dairy, peanut, treenut & egg white) & I wanted to see what was in the popcorn.

When I got there I asked & the girl at the counter was unable to tell me & she asked someone else who said "I think..". Um..not good enough.

our local small theater has a deal $10 for two large drinks and xl popcorn; and they all come with free refills.

We bring in candy, water bottles for the 4 kiddos and paper lunch bags.

Then we fill their bags with popcorn and go refill it before the movie practically starts!

With 6 people to pay for admissions we have to save money somewhere :rotfl:

I just started taking in cups - we buy 1 large sprite that gets free refills & I pull out the plastic cups so everyone can share & then I buy a lg popcorn again that gets free refill & that goes in a cup as well....

So I don't sneak in food - just cups....

Yeah...once I looked over and saw somebody eating White Castle. Luckily, I actually like the smell!

:lmao: Surely you can't get kicked out for cups!! Tell them you are afraid you might not make it to the bathroom if you laugh to hard :rotfl:

We always sneak food into the theaters. One time, my friend and I popped our own popcorn at home and put it in a giant ziploc bag. When we realized that neither one of us had a big enough purse, I ended up putting it under my shirt, zipped my coat up, and pretended to be pregnant.
When I was 6 or 7 I went to the movies with my older sister and
her friends. We went to the candy store before going to the movies and stocked up. We each had a good size bag full of candy. We put the bags under our jackets to get into the theater. One of the ticket takers actually made a comment to me like, "What are you pregnant?" My mom was furious when she heard later what the guy had said to me and went to the theater and complained. The guy got into trouble. Funny part of the story is that my uncle ended up marrying this guy's sister, so we see him at family functions a lot.

our main movie theater is in the mall..it's an AMC and they allow you to bring in outside food and drink...people are always coming in with starbucks or drinks from the food court....I've seen people come in with Chik-fil-a and eat it before the movie started before...so no problems at ours!

Mine too. There's a Dunkin Donuts and foodcourt right near the movie entrance. They let you bring in drinks without a problem. When people carry their shopping bags in, it's hard to tell what kind of snacks they are also carrying. I've never heard of them checking.

I used to bring in candy when I was a kid. Mom would take us to the store right before heading over to the movies and let us pick out any kind of candy we wanted.

Now, as an adult, I don't really snack during movies. I usually have some suckers or gum, but I am not looking for snacks.

I remember once a family of 4 brought a styrofoam cooler into the movies - we were seeing Honey I Shrunk the Kids - and they had filled it with tuna sandwiches. What a rotten smell that was.

I also remember one time my sister and I were home from college and we went to the matinee and brought in Chickfila and cans of Coke. There were only a few other people there, but one of them must have smelled our food and turned around to see who was eating the yummy-smelling viddles. We couldn't help but bust out laughing. Good times.

We always sneak in candy but usually buy popcorn and drinks. It's so expensive for 5 people. The only time I got in trouble for taking food in was along time ago, I think the movie we were watching was sister act. Anyways I was pregnant and so very sick I even threw up in a trash can  because I couldn't make it to the bathroom, they made me throw away my saltines. I could not believe it. I told them I was not responsible for what may happen.

Same here......... gotta have that popcorn.

Many years ago I got some dumb idea to pop some microwave popcorn and bring it. I did this right before we went to the movies and put it in my purse. I'm telling you, I totally reaked of popcorn. I'm sure everyone in line knew I had popcorn on me. Never did that again.

I know at our AMC we are allowed to bring outside food and drinks in. The restaurants adjacent to the theater even tell you it's OK to bring thier food in. We've done that a couple of times.

I do spend money at the snack bar, but if there is a group of us, it can get very expensive, so many times I'll try to bring something from home in addition to buying something there. We also buy a large drink and share it if it's just my family, then get the free refill if we drink it all. We just have to all agree to drink the same thing.

I would have done what I could to get them thrown out. I can not to be in the same room with tuna sandwiches. And since it is such a strong smell, I'm sure there are many others that feel the same way and that family was completely thoughtless.

tame - tame.. :rolleyes1

back in the college days we would always bring in food, the guys would bring in beer - way before the baggy cargo pants btw - - they would put the beer in their socks, :rotfl2: I have no idea if it was cold or warm beer!! :rotfl2:

dh was just reminiscing about the time I made him stop at the Fruit market and pick up some Michigan Sweet Cherries (and I got a double bag - no pits on the floor!! ) to smuggle in the movie!! :goodvibes It was the first time he watched someone smuggle in food!! :rotfl2:
