I'm walking into the theater with my two kids when I feel wetness on my foot. I think, Dear God! I've heard that at some age you loose full bladder control but, but not at 43 surely!!!! No. It was the Capri Sun in my purse. OMG my purse was DRIPPING! Not drip... drip... drip it was more like streaming! Someone could have followed me by the trail. Nobody said a word. I shoved a wad of paper towels into the bottom of my purse and got in line to buy drinks trying my best to look casual. :rolleyes1 Lesson learned.

:lmao:

We always put soda and candy in my purse. Haven't been caught so far... knock on wood!

We always sneak food into the theaters. One time, my friend and I popped our own popcorn at home and put it in a giant ziploc bag. When we realized that neither one of us had a big enough purse, I ended up putting it under my shirt, zipped my coat up, and pretended to be pregnant.

I've hidden snacks in my purse before and haven't got caught. I've never taken drinks so I don't know about that. When I was younger my dad used to take fast food with him I don't know how he got away with it- you could smell the food the second we walked in the theatre! But he never got caught. Oh and one time I saw a lady bring in fried chicken it was in foil but none the less fried chicken!

My parents used me as a popcorn mule.

I'm still bitter about it...

I don't remember the movie we went to see, but I was single digit age...I had a small trash bag filled with popcorn from home shoved in my winter coat.
I was pretty small and the bulging coat was a BIG giveaway.

I just remember having to unzip my coat and remove the contraband corn which was unceremoniously dumped in the trash.

I'm gonna bring this up next time mom calls, see if she remembers :rotfl:

The most we ever brought in was those boxes of candy that sell for around $4 a box there but only 88 cents to a dollar in Wal Mart or Target. Would be to nervous to try to smuggle in drinks for fear of what happened to the OP.

Great story :rotfl2:

I remember when I was younger we always made a dramatic production about sneaking food in. Now, I don't bother. If it fits in my purse I throw it in there, if not I just carry it in. No one has ever said anything to me. Of course its usually just a half full bottle of water and a snack bag of almonds or something... it's not like I'm trying to sneak in a pizza or anything.

I take stuff in, usually bring a tote bag with my purse, food and sometimes a throw. Those theaters are freezing during the summer! Never had someone even look at me funny.

When I was little a friend of my grandmothers got kicked out of a theatre while on vacation for bringing in food. Later that evening the theatre was bombed and several people died. My grandmother considers this a sign from God that it is necessary to bring food in to movie theatres, we never go without at least a bag of popcorn.

we don't usually bring food from home with us, but as a gastric bypass patient, i am never without a bottle of water and always take it in with me. no one has ever told me i couldn't. however, i eat at certain times of day, and if a movie was during my meal time, i would take my food with me in a small container-it fits in my purse, no problem.

When I was in college, we did this all the time. Now we usually just skip snacks, or maybe get a drink.

One time, I hadn't had lunch, and we were meeting my parents and grandparents to see Pearl Harbor. It was a theater in the mall, and I bought a huge sub in a take out tray with sides...I carried it in under a jacket! DH still can't believe I got in with it.

Now I feel kind of guilty about that...

We don't sneak it. We carry it in full sight. We always buy bottles of soda and sometimes candy prior to entering the theater. The only thing we don't bring in from outside is popcorn. No one has ever said anything to us about it.

I've only been told (once) that I could not bring my drink into the theater. (it was in plain sight) It was a coffee from Seattle's Best. At other times I've brought in soda from fast food places and they didn't have an issue. :confused3

I don't think they kick you out or say anything about food anymore, especially if you don't do it in plain sight. Too many people with food issues, allergies or special diets to question everyone. I wouldn't try bringing in a bag of McD's :) but hey, maybe you could convince them your on the Big Mac diet!

I openly bring in food because we are allowed to in Philadelphia. It has something to do with a former mayor being thrown out of a local theater after his bag was searched and food was found.

I used to sneak in candy when I brought my godson to see movies. Once we were in line at Walgreens before the movie waiting to buy our candy and he says loudly, "You're going to put that in your pocketbook so they don't see it right?" There was a guy in front of us in line whose eyes almost popped out of his head! I was SO embarrassed...that was MY lesson learned.

At our local theater there is a sign saying that they have the right to search any bags. Not only have I NEVER seen them search any bags but sometimes they don't even check tickets!!

I love movie theater pop corn, so I would never bring my own pop corn, but I have brought candy before.

DD and her friend took in Japanese food from the food court last week with them. I couldn't believe no one said anything to them! I would never have the nerve to be that brazen, but nobody said anything to them.

There are no restrictions on outside food here - we are usually walking in with Fast Food bags full of burgers & fries, drinks in our hands and crap to snack on in our pockets/purses. I heard that someone on some sort of restricted diet sued the theatres and food is allowed at all Cine-Marks since (formerly Century Theatres) we have been taking our own food for probably 15 years or more.

I don't think our local theater cares, even though they are supposed to.

My mom snuck in some snacks in her purse. When she went to pay for the tickets the snacks were blocking her wallet, so she pulled out the snacks, set them on the counter, paid & then placed them back into her purse!!!! :lmao:

I didn't see it happen. No one ever said a word. By the time she got to me she realized what she had done.

She was laughing hysterical trying to tell me what she just did. :rotfl:

It was priceless!

Doesn't seem to be against any rules here anymore. In fact, there are no signs stating you can't bring in your own food. I do remember the one time I DIDNT bring in snacks for the kids. $46 at the snack bar on top of the $9 per ticket. OUCH!!
