Have you done a private fireworks cruise with dining?

I originally planned to have a grown up night with DH at California Grill after leaving DS at Lilo's Playhouse. But after seeing how many of the seats have their backs to the windows, I was wondering if I should try something else.

I've seen that you can have a private fireworks cruise, and that you can also have food served, but was wondering how much that would run. I've seen prices elsewhere on DIS for fireworks cruises, but I don't know how up to date those are. As for adding food, does anyone know where I could find a menu to see what is available?

There is an observation deck at California Grill so, if you don't have a window seat, you can simply go out on the deck and see the fireworks with music piped in. IMHO, the view of the fireworks from the restaurant is better than the one you will get on the boat.

I haven't done a Wishes cruise, but I have done an Illuminations cruise. We could order whatever we wanted from the private dining menu (AKA Room Service menu - including wine/beer), but you have to consume it during the cruise and it's already under domes on the boat before you get there, so it's not like it's waiting for you to sit down to be served warm.

Also, they couldn't really tell me how the boat would be set-up to accommodate food - there are no tables, and I most certainly didn't want to eat off a plate in my lap.

Cali Grill is outstanding for fireworks. Like an above poster said, the view of the fireworks is as good - if not better- than being in the park itself.

I have done the Illuminations cruise with food/drink and cupcakes. All ordered from private dining at the Yatch Club. I just called and talked to a CM about what we wanted delivered. It was not cheap, can't remember how much, but the Illuminations cruise is not cheap, so I just went for it.

Above poster is right there is no tables, it's a pontoon boat, so snacky things worked best for us.

We did the pontoon boat years ago, we were staying at the Wilderness lodge and had pizza delivered to the boat. We ate pizza and snacks on the lake while watching the fireworks. We've also done the California Grill for the fireworks. Both where nice experiences, I would do the boat again before the grill. It was just a funner experience on the boat imho. I agree with Disneywishs14 though, the view from CG was good.

View from the boat: (I don't have any pictures from California Grill :( )
