I like seeing all the creative and delicious dishes highlighted on this show and was wondering...
Who here has made a special trip to one of the featured restaurants and tasted a highlighted dish?

We did! There was a restaurants featured in Miami and they had a dish called Mofongo. On the show, Guy acted like he had died and gone to heaven when he tasted it. We got a booth, ordered the dish, tasted it and we were both "Meh".

They also featured a local meat and three that we love and have eaten at for years. It was funny seeing Guy have no idea what the brunswick stew was. What??

So where you have you gone, what did you eat and what did you think?

I’ve done a Road Food self guided tour in NE and found it fun. Not big on guided tours of any kind though.

I have not watched this show since Guy Fieri confessed that he sometimes spits the food out once the camera stops rolling. I'm not boycotting it or anything, I just wonder how much he really like s a dish.

Me and my husband went to a few of the places that Guy visited. One was here where we lived , don't recall if I ordered what he had but the food was really good. The second place is in Monterey and we were eating there before he visited the place. But they have really good meals and huge desserts.

Not a fan of Guy Fieri so never watched his show, however I have always wanted to travel around and try things I've seen on other Travel Channel / Food Network shows.

We visited 3 places in St. Louis that Guy visited and a local place.

The local place here was very good, but became a victim of Covid-owners couldn't keep it open.

There's another local pace that Guy had visited that we went to long before his show. It was a long standing family restaurant.

The restaurant changed hands and by the time Guy visited it, the locals were shunning it because of the new management.

It has changed hands again.

Yes. Went to the Rainbow Drive In in Honolulu. Had the burger thing that they served with an egg, rice and gravy. It was okay.

One is across the street from where I work. I went there before and after Guy visited. Much more crowded after. Their smoked prime rib is to die for.
Been to two others. Very good as well.

He went a couple places in my town. One I had already been to and it was ok, nothing outstanding. The other place I made a point to visit after he had been there for the show, but I wasn't overly impressed with them either. I wonder how they decide on what restaurants to visit? There's other local places that are more popular and have better food than the ones he visited.

This does not surprise me.

there's a place near us he visited and featured their bbq chicken quesadillas. they are phenomenal and feature a smoked onion sauce to die for.

I think it’s more he films a lot of shows in one day and can’t really eat that much
I think he’s in it for the money and pay little attention to his opinion.
On the other hand I found the chicken at his fast food place in Disney Springs tasty.

On the other other hand I’m going to my grave lmao at the Peter Well’s review of his flopped restaurant.

I have not been to any restaurants featured on his show but while on vacations we have been to restaurants or other type of food places mentioned on other food network shows or the travel channel.

The wife and I will usually try to make it one anytime we are travelling. I think we've been to every one in Minneapolis, Ropa Vieja at Victor's is fantastic. I grew up a mile from the place and only went there for breakfast before my wife made me take her. Tocabe in Denver is the second best fry bread I've ever had, the first being my grandmother's An empenada place in Des Moines I can't remember the name of it. And next month we will probably add a place in TX.

We've eaten at a few places that happen to be where we were visiting. We've looked up the places in our state and plan to hit some as we take day trips. It's fun to watch and we like trying the style places he showcases.

We have been to some of the featured restaurants in Maine, Cape Cod, Charleston SC and one right outside of Newport Rhode Island. We really like them all! The one in Charleston we would NOT have stepped foot in, if not for Guys show!!! Ha, ha!!

We have been to the Whale's Rib in Deerfield Beach, Florida. It is very close to where we live and we had been there several times before the episode.

We haven’t watched the show for a very long time but back when we did, we decided to make looking for DDD places a fun little part of our holidays when we were in the States. There have been so many trips that I can’t remember all the restaurants now. We weren’t always able to get into our first choices and not all of them lived up to the hype but as a lark we really enjoy doing it and I’m sure we’ll do it again.

Us too (though it is near the condo my family has, not where actually live).
