Question time again ~ a few of the adults in our party want to attend a Major League Baseball Game while we are in Anaheim. Apparently we are very fortunate to be able at attend the LA Angels v the Phillies before they start their road tour.

My DD want us all to go which includes the 2yr, 5yr & 7yr old grandchildren, she says it will be fun. What are your opinions and have you taken kids to these kind of games?? Apparently it will be 3hrs long. I know a lot of people take their little ones to the Footy games here in Australia but how do they keep the children happy ????

Once again thank you in advance for all your great info and input :thumbsup2

Yes we love it, we are lucky enough to be going to Fenway Park this trip our kids love it whilst they are older than your grand kids it's certainly not boring at all it has lots of atmosphere.

We went to see a Yankee's game at Yankee Stadium last year.
It was an amazing experience (although my daughter is 16)

It was very long and we did leave before the end of the game but so did a lot of people as it was a week night and getting on for 10pm and game was not close.

BUT it was pretty darn up there for a great all time sporting experience for both of us as far as total atmosphere because it more than just watching the game. I would go again.

We share season tickets to the Nationals (Washington DC MLB team) and my boy go 6-8 times a season since birth. Baseball is long, but buy peanuts outside re ballpark and that will keep them amused. It's also fun to wander around the stadium if someone gets antsy. They might also have a kids play area at the ballpark and that would be fun. Also, try to lower deck seats IMO - My kids get scared by the upper deck seating. Also, they will hopefully be able to see better in the Lower deck which also makes it more fun for kids.

We went with kids 10,10 and 12. They lasted the whole game and were quite entertained by it.
My friend and I (neither of us sports fans) enjoyed the atmosphere and copying whatever the local fans did! We didn't really have a clue about baseball, but clapped when they did, booed when they did and jumped up and down when they did.
It was a great place to see what the Americans are all about. The boys in front of us were chewing tobacco (I think). We watched who put their hand over their heart for the national anthem, and enjoyed eating the baseball food.
They also had fireworks for home runs, and it was a very high scoring game, so it was fun.

You really dont want to miss it. Its hard to say if your kids will able to sit all through it. Only you know your kids. Baseball can do between 2 1/2 and 4 hours depending on the game. You could always just get cheap tickets andf turn up a bit late?

Went to a LA Angels of Anaheim vs Seattle Mariners game a few years back whilst we stayed at Disneyland in Anaheim. Easily the finest sporting spectacle Ive ever been to (and that includes AFL finals, a Bulls game with Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and Longley, & an NHL Ice Hockey game (easily the most brutal sporting spectacle Ive seen)). Non stop action, non stop noise, a great crowd vibe, an appreciation of exactly how hard and fast these blokes can throw a baseball from the outfield.....it's all there. And the kids love it!

You simply must do it.

Ditto... We did an Angels v NY Yankees in Anaheim . Simply a must do immersion of US culture in one night. Although 4 yrs ago I remember the evening well. Highlights were ,
Wednesday night full house
Angels won (so the locals went bezerk)
We had $20 seats from stubhub at the far end ( near the volcano - only in the USA)
The 2 kg bag of peanuts
The helmet full of nachos
The pulled pork sandwich from the beach BBQ pit
Seeing a home run and the ball landing about 10m away
Buying an angel pie ( ice cream) and having it passed down 15 sets of hands while the money went the other way...very polite .
Oh there was some great baseball played ( I think) . Kids loved it.

Do I need to say more......
