Have you been loyal to the BC and/or BW for years and then stayed at the Poly?

I'm flip flopping every day. My kids and I have stayed at the BCVs and BWVs (or the Inns) for years. My younger set of kids have begged me to stay at the Poly for the last two trips. I booked a room only through the AP discount, but I'm starting to get nervous now. I've been watching the threads about the Poly, Poly vs. YC/BC, etc. But I'm wondering if there are any people who have been loyal to the Epcot resorts and then switched to the Poly. Have you been happy or disappointed? I've seen all the pictures, we've walked the grounds, seen the pool, etc. But it seems such a dark atmosphere compared to the BC/BW hotels. Also, I find myself so afraid that I am going to miss the BW and the ability to boat to MGM. We spend equal amount of time at all of the parks, as we use the hotels to vacation and spend limited time in the parks. Usually evenings. I know the monorail is very convenient. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.

For about 12 years all we did was Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn. With an occasional moderate thrown in. I had no interest in MK resorts because MK was our least favorite park. Starting a couple years ago, we decided to try ALL of the resorts, so we have now stayed GF, CR and Poly too.

As stuck as we were on Epcot resorts, we LOVE the Poly and want to go back often. We love the large rooms, the beautiful landscaping, the castle view from the Volcano pool, Captain Cook's food court, the Kona Cafe, and the fireworks view of Wishes from the beaches. My sons also like the Contemporary, mostly because there's a computer in the room with internet access. The GF, I would not waste money on again - it's overrated and the service was not very good.

We love the Epcot resorts the best out of all WDW resorts. We recently stayed at Poly and were not disappointed, but yet we did miss the Epcot resort area. We are in a different situation, though, in that our twins are now old enough that they want to frequent MK, so the monorail resorts are the most convenient for us at this stage.

I don't know what to tell you except that I suspect you will miss what you already know you love so much. However, if you are open to trying something different, then you may be glad for the change just to mix things up a bit. It sounds like you've done all your research and know what to expect. It is surely nice to sit on the Poly beach and watch Wishes.

I haven't been to the poly yet.................but I love to try new things.......................How bad can it be? Go on give it a try!!! If it is not what you expect, transfer to an EPCOT resort..................

Thanks sooooooo much you guys!!! That's exactly the push that I needed to keep my reservation at the Poly....we did eat at Kona's the in July and I thought it was the best food I had eaten in Disney in a long time. Anyway, thanks again for answering. We'll try something new this Christmas.
P.S., I had asked for a moderator to move this to resorts, as I don't know how I managed to post this in codes and rates. Sorry for the misplace.

Im subscribing Im addicted to the EPCOT resorts as well but would love to stay at the Poly again! I havent been to the Poly since 1989 and iM sure alot has changed but i can never bring myself to stay there again..so im curious to hear what others have to save as well

We stayed at the Poly this spring after not having been there for abut 20 years and believe me you WON'T be disappointed! I guess I had forgotten how much rooms have 'shrunk' over the years. The Poly's are BIG, spacious and have obviously been redecorated many times. We intend to stay there again this coming spring.

We have been DVC members since '99, we own at the BWV's so I guess you might classify us as Epcot resort loyalists. We stayed at the Poly for a few nights in June prior to checking in at the BCV's this past June. Loved it!!! We loved it so much when we couldn't get a villa at any dvc resort for a last minute Oct trip I with no hesitation booked the Poly for 6 nights. You cannot beat the ease of transport to the MK which is important this trip without husband there to help. The food choices-Kona Cafe and Ohana are nice with Narcossee's and Cali Grill a short monorail ride away. The atmosphere is just so nice. Love it!! LOve it!!!
