Have you been during the busy times of the year?

I am a teacher, so our family is stuck going at busy vacation times. However, I would like to go at the least crowded times of the busy times (does that even make sense?) We went in June in 2013 during Star Wars Weekends, and it was busy and hot. I am thinking it would be nice to go maybe during Spring Break (last week of March) when it isn't so hot or Thanksgiving week to see the Christmas decorations, but we went to DLR Thanksgiving week this year (Mon & Tues only of that week) and OMG, it was very busy. Don't think I would want to go back when it was that busy. How does Spring Break or Thanksgiving week compare to summer at WDW? I think I would like to skip the Christmas to New Years time frame because it sounds like it is insanely crowded at that time. I'd like to avoid that heat (I'm a redhead that can't handle heat well), but I might go for the heat over crowds. Any advice? Thanks!

Teacher here as well . . . We have been in the summer and during Christmas Break. It's hard to say what I enjoyed more. It was soooo hot in the summer, but definitely less crowded than Christmas. We loved being there at Christmas though. We go with the attitude that we aren't going to get to do everything and we prioritize what we want to do. Last year we were there for Christmas and we would go for park opening and have a lunch and then head back to the room. Then we would go back in the evenings when things calmed down a little more. Although one day we had afternoon FP+ so we went to AK in the morning and then headed to Epcot in the afternoon for our ADR and FP+. I actually think I preferred Christmas to summer.

We did DL this year and even with the crowds, we loved it!:santa:

We've been during the summer several times and at Easter this past year. Easter wasn't bad at all; summertime is hot–almost miserably so.

If you get a choice, I'd pick spring or Christmas. It's busier than the summertime; in fact, MK parking lot closed while we were there. But you don't notice the crowds as much when the weather is nice.

Of course, my family planned a trip this June, and I'm happily going then, too. Any day at Disney beats a day at home, in my opinion.

If you go during the summer avoid holiday weekends, specially 4th of july
we were there last year and almost died, MK closed to capacity and it was unbelievably hot.

I think the earliest part of the summer is better than the end, because end of august is hurricane season.
here is a link to a crowd calendar maybe it helps:

We have been for 4th of July week (not our choice!) with a bag family. Definitely the worst time to go because it was both hot and crowded!

All of your choices of times to go will be extremely crowded. That being said, I would go with the one that at least offers the best weather temperature-wise, which would be your spring break in March. Best of luck!

I've been Spring break (which was Easter week - before), summer in June, July and beginning of August, and Christmas week.

I would pick Spring break. Weather was the best. The last week of August was not so crowded (son went) because many children are already back at school, but it is hot. Christmas week, the weather is nice as well....but it could get cold and boy was it crowded.

Any time you pick you need a plan, even a basic one. Have fun!

We have been stuck with the busy (school break) times as wel ... generally summer but had our first Christmas to New Years trip a couple of years ago and loved it!

It was crowded but we found that if you get to the parks at opening and back out after lunch it isn't all that bad. We would generally return in the evenings ... sometimes to a different park but generally did not ride much in the evenings ... mostly people watching, Osborne lights, snacking, etc. We spent some of the afternoons touring the resorts checking out the decorations. It was one of our favorite trips!

We are trying Spring break this year!
