Have you as an adult been scared or overwhelmed on any rides?

I can ride RnR a hundred times in a row :) but Splash Mountain scares me to death! It tricks you!! You think it's so sweet and innocent, see all the little characters, Zip a dee doo dah, and then.....................

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't do the drop. I'm a big chicken. ;)

I love Dinosaur, doesn't bother me at all, and I love ToT, it doesn't bother me either. :)

Now if you REALLY want to talk scary, I will NEVER ride HULK again. No way!!!!!

Peter Pan, yes, Peter Pan....It's white knuckles for me! I don't like the feeling of being suspended and flying around! I do like TOT though!

The old Countdown to Extinction scared me to death. I thought I would be thrown from the car. I haven't been on it since that first time when AK opened. I hear Dinosaur is a little more tame!

MJS - Too funny about the race cars! My greatest shock and thrill usually happens when I get the bill when checking out of the resort!

TOT for me tooo!!:( :( Last time I went on 2 years ago I got off SHAKING!! I have tried to go on again but I keep chickening out!! I cannot stand not knowing how many times I will DROP!! Joan

Yes, I will freely admit that I was scared of Alien Encounter. I am claustrophobic, don't like being held down, and have a very vivid imagination. A combination not compatible with this attraction.

I also have had problems in the queueing areas of Country Bear Jamborree and Muppet Vision 3-d due to my claustrophobia... I ended up having to leave before I got to see the shows. Now, I just go when I know that the queueing areas won't be too crowded, or stand in the back.

Other than the basic mile case of roller coaster tummy, I have not been harmed or overly adversely affected by any ride at WDW. Mickey

There are many rides I won't list because I have refused to try them. But out of the ones I have tried,

TOT - I was OK until the twilight zone swirly stuff, made me dizzy. If I do this again I'll close my eyes during that part.

My vote for the WORST RIDE EVER - Body Wars! I got so nauseous on that ride, I was unable to enjoy the rest of the trip - and we were still there for a few more days after that.

I simply cannot keep my eyes open for the whole Dinosaur ride. My DH thought it was the funniest thing that when they snap your picture on the ride, my head was buried in his chest. :(
But he gets overwhelmed by that one, too. It is just a loud, intense ride. My other least fave is TOT. I am always relieved when the ride is over, thanking god that we didn't die on it!!! A bit extreme I know, but I always think the thing is just gonna not stop on the way down and kablueeee! But I have still gone on several times.....go figure;)

I get realllly nervous during Haunted Mansion! I'm extremely afraid of the dark and ghosts (yes, 21 years old and still afraid of the dark...and ghosts.. LOL!).. My brother rode it with me once and said, "You know, someone could be hiding in here with a knife... He could just reach out and slash your throat and no one would know until it was too late.." So now, I start to freak out around the clock area... It doesn't stop until I'm back outside.. But, I will ride that ride as many times as they let me, because it is really my favorite of them all! LOL!

I hate alien encounter at mk.

if i *have* to go in it, i always sit slightly forward, lift my feet off ground, and keep my eyes tightly shut.

I know, i am a big baby (LOL)

Dinosaur.... I continue to go on it for my 5 and 6 year old who insist, but I have not been able to keep my eyes open past the triceatops (about 3 seconds into the ride).

for terk 1:

i hate big drops as well - i was okay when i was younger but as i have got older the big drops - i hate them.

i made myself go on splash mountain though as - it is a 52ft drop at the end.

the day before i chickened out of the jurassic park ride (IOA) as it was an 85ft drop.

and when i saw dudley falls (IOA) drop almost three times the size and much steeper - the drop at splash mountain looked a lot smaller.

but in the picture of my brother and i - i am still screaming my head off.

i wished that i was more braver - but proud that i done it.

Brilliant thread! I have never been to WDW before, we are off for the first time in November. I've used this thread to compile a list of all the rides not to do! I have real dread of coasters and 'drops'!! Thanks a lot I feel much better knowing the really horrible rides to avoid!

This is a really interesting discussion :)

The only thing that still makes my heart race is TOT, but that is through excitement not so much fear :p

I persuaded my mum to go on BTMR with me and lets just say I will NEVER do that again. She was teary eyed afterwards, felt so bad :( But then I reminded myself of the first time when she convinced me to go on with her and my sis, then they backed out at the last minute leaving me to ride alone  Revenge perhaps lol. The bits that scared the living daylights out her were the "bumps" and the mini drops. So beware, if you don't like that "stomach in your throat feeling" at all, maybe avoid Big Thunder aswell as Splash and SM.

As for all these comments about Alien Encounter, it actually sends me into a laughing fit, so much so that once i was crying (for totally the opposite reasons lol) It's all about perception and controlling your imagination. It did take us about 5 years to go on it though lol

Strangely enough, the only ride that I have been genuinely scared (as opposed to "fun" scared) was the Magic Carpets of Alladin. I was riding with my 4 year old grandson, and somehow felt as if he was going to fall right out. I held on to his shirt with white knuckles.

Me- Astro Orbiter
DH- Rock N Roller Coaster, Body Wars, Star Tours, teacups (make him sick)

Last summer we did the Haunted Mansion for the first time at NIGHT! We'd already been on it earlier that week during the day (and other trips). I kept trying to prepare myself for different areas, but was feeling extra paranoid in the darker setting. It's hard to believe the little bit of light from the windows can change the mood so much!

NON-Disney; We were at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg, VA. It was evening, and there had been thunderstorms off and on all night closing down rides. They had just reopened Lochness Monster and as we started the first ascent, the skies opened and it started lightening. All they could do at that point was run the train! The rain was pelting our faces and HURT! We were laughing the whole time, but both DH and I admitted (without the kids hearing) that we felt like sitting ducks! It was a very long 2 minutes!

I haven't been to WDW yet, have done DLP but didn't get on anything more scary than Big Thunder Mountain. I was tempted to do Space Mountain but at the time my DS was too small so I chickened out.
I have done Alton Towers and the Tea Cups make me dizzy! ;)

Makes me wonder why I'm going !!!

My DS is now tall enough to ride on anything - methinks I'll be dragged kicking and screaming onto a few rides:crazy:

Still can't wait to go.

Hey TBear,
I guess I did not get my feelings across the way I had intended to but Milennium Force I feel is the best roller coaster I have ever ridden. The fact that my legs were shaking after my first ride is why I like it so much. No ride had ever done that to me before.
I have been on it many times since and it has not lost its power.
I am really looking forward to Top Thrill Dragster, though it looks short in length, it is probably huge in power.
Anyway, just felt like had to clear my roller coaster name!
Cheers,

Dinosaur at AK totally freaked me out. I don't know what I was thinking, but it was just a bit too real for me. I ended up riding with my eyes closed for the majority of it. I figure what I missed must have been intense since my DH actually screamed out loud--which he never does! Maybe next time I'll peek at it through my fingers--although I doubt there will be a next time.;)
