Have to call to renew Gold/Sorcerer DVC renewal?

Ugh-- time to decide on AP renewal, but when I click, it only gives option of Incredipass. I guess I need to call Member Services to renew as Sorcerer (was Gold)? Are the wait times horrible like calling DCL? I almost don't want to renew, but since they keep threatening our AP status, might hold on for one more year. Interestingly, I did receive a survey from Disney about AP and indicated that we do enjoy using it, but hate the park reservation system, limited hopping and Genie+.

Yah, you need to call to get the DVC renewal price. I've never had horrible wait times but YMMV. The DVC gold renewal isn't too bad a deal still. We go twice a year and it's working out for us, cost-wise. You'll have to go to guest services at the park entrance to get them activated when you arrive but they'll work as APs on your MDE for online reservations and what not ahead of time.

There are no DVC renewal prices. The only perk DVC has in terms of renewals (since there are no new sales) is the ability to purchase the sorcerer’s pass w/o being a FL resident. DVC members pay full price for APs now.

Just semantics as this point until they open up new AP purchases. They are all renewals until that happens. Can't get a new one without an old one. Just better that we can get the Sorcerer's pass than having to get the Incredi-priced one.

We renewed my Gold AP into Sorcerer with PhotoPass downloads in February - the cost was $903.12 including tax ($764 renewal price for the AP, $89 DVC discount price for the PhotoPass downloads, plus tax). I think I waited about 15 minutes on hold that time. In March we renewed DH's Sorcerer for $813.66 including tax (he doesn't need the PhotoPass downloads since I have them). I think I waited about 5 minutes on hold that time. So, yes, you do have to call MS, but I think wait times recently have been more reasonable - as long as you don't try to call on a day when many people are calling to book MM or a DVC cruise or something similar!

I was just pointing out there are no more discounts as there used to be as you specifically mentioned getting “discounts”. We “have” to do the incredi-pass because of when we are able to visit Disney. The loss of the discount resulted in a lot more $$$ out of our pocket.

The renewals are discounted. The sorcerer pass was $899 plus tax. As highlighted above, the renewal price is only $814 (including tax).
Renewals are discounted for everybody, it’s not a DVC perk…..DVC used to receive an additional % off as a perk.

ETA: My point is that the reason for having to call DVC to renew a sorcerers pass is not to receive an additional discount, it is because that is the only way for DVC to renew one as they are otherwise ineligible (unless already a FL resident).

There is a renewal price though on the sorcerer. I realize it’s not a discount but it is a less expensive AP non the less.

Can you tell me what is the renewal price for the sorcerers pass if I changed status to a Florida resident this year? Is there even a renewal price if I start using a Florida pass?

The sorcerer pass renewal prices is the same for both DVC and FL resident. I believe $764 plus tax.

The only other FL pass currently being sold is the Pixie Pass.

Except that is exactly what DVC members have been paying? They get the FL pass option which for likely 95% of DVC members means a pass that otherwise they would not have access to.

Places out there have it listed and this seems to be consistent I checked WDWINFO and they only have a new pass listed.

The last couple of times I've called MS (since March) I've been pleasantly surprised to have either zero wait or under 5 mins. I usually call in the middle of the day and not on a MM or DVC cruise panic day

Previously, only the top tier passes (Platinum & Platinum Plus) were discounted for FL Residents and DVC Members. FL Residents & DVC Members paid a lower rate then everyone else. Now the new top tier pass (Incredi-Pass) is the same price for everyone.

That is dissapointing to learn there is no longer a DVC discount on the top tier pass. The sorcerer's pass has block out dates so it does not work for everyone.

Until they release new APs, we don't know if the current renewal price is discounted or not.
Previously, renewal was cheaper than a new AP. It's wait and see if that continues.

The renewal prices are quoted on the site. Those who have had an AP prior to the new passes coming out can renew and they would renew at the prices show in the image. They are discounted.

But again, the whole point of my posts in this thread is that DVC members DO NOT get an EXTRA discount like they did in the past. I'm not sure why my post has been so difficult for others to understand. I was not contradicting anybody, I was merely clarifying some other comments.

I don't recall getting a special discount for renewing as a DVC member.
My renewal price was cheaper than a new AP. And I could get a Gold pass s DVC.
