Have Remy booked for first time, tell me all about it!

Going to try Palo, which we have been to on my birthday, and the next night do Remy. Is it really worth the $85 per person? I like simple food, steak, potatoes. Im willing to go so my wife can go, i hope she likes it, she does eat everything else. Can you tell me all about it, or should we just skip it?

We love it and try to go there whenever we can. There is an American menu and French menu both with multiple courses. We each get one of the menus and we share. Food is amazing and the cheese course at the end is incredible. A similar menu is available at Victoria and Alberts at the grand Floridian and it would run 200 a person or more.

Service is amazing and you will love the food.

Remy is excellent. I'm like you I like simple foods. But remy food was excellent. Went for anniversary one cruise. i probably won't go again just because of the $$$. But I have no complaints about the food.

We did the Remy brunch set menu with the Champagne pairing and loved it. Well worth the $$. I generally wouldn't have ordered the food items at a restaurant, but as part of a set menu we were forced to try them, and was surprised how much we enjoyed them. Our menu included:

Jamon Iberico
Vegetable Risotto - paired with Taittinger Prestige Cuvee Rose NV
Lobster, Caviar, Mango
Sea Bass, Egg, Thai - paired with Pommery 'Pop Gold' '06
Chicken, Vegetable
Paris Brest - paired with Moet & Chandon Ice NV

It's amazing. And if they have the Japanese Matsusaka beef, order it. Regardless of the upcharge. It's the single best thing I've ever eaten.

I agree that the cheese course was one of the best we've ever had. It is well worth the money. Some people think it can be a little stuffy if you aren't used to that level of service, but just relax, enjoy the service and the time you get to spend with your wife in a quiet romantic setting.

We have done both the dinner and brunch.
We enjoyed them so much, first class all the way.
One of us got the American side and the other the French, it was beyond our expectations.
The brunch was a set menu, equally as enjoyable.
We have also tried the dessert experience, that was a lot of fun, the chef's come out and chat and mingle. After that we had a very light dinner, 6 full size desserts at 3pm will do you in!!! But in a good way.

Hmmm, Remy might not be for you then. Remy is hardly "simple food". Its very fancy food. However, you just might be surprised at how good it is if you give it a chance. I did reviews of both Remy and Palo for FoodieTales a couple of years ago. Although some things have changed since then, the reviews are still a very good explanation of what happens at each. I thought I only liked simple food until I dined at Remy. Now I appreciate fine cuisine as well.

I can never get out of Remy without spending a *very* high amount. I love it. My typical bill is exponentially higher than base rate after all is said and done.

One of the best dinning experiences we have had. The service is really amazing. Our server was not stuffy, even though things are quite formal. We shared many laughs. We are foodies and the menu appealed to us, but I think the food is quite easily enjoyed by those who prefer simple menus. We went for our 30th anniversary. Is quite expensive, but, for us, worth every penny. My husband says he will never forget seeing me that night with the sun setting behind me.
