I was thinking since I am flying out of Buffalo we would just fill a suitcase with cereal, granola bars, fruit and juice boxes and coffee. Has anyone done this before since we are not renting a car and probably not have enough food to deliver since just my DH :surfweb: and myself:mickeyjum going.popcorn::I was wondering if the airline would have a problem with that? It will also give me an empty suitcase for souvenirs to bring back.
Any help would be great thanks everyone:lovestruc

I would strongly suggest putting the juiceboxes into Ziploc freezer bags, and then into another plastic bag as well. You just don't want them to get squished and explode all over the place. ;) As long as they're going in "checked luggage", they won't care.

I just hope that they will let the fruit in checked luggage. I was going to take bananas and apples and put them in the compartments of the luggage.
Will they let that many bags in luggage, I thought that there was a 3-1-1 rule, Three ounce bottles-one quart bags-one to a person.:confused3

Hi there, I packed juice boxes and tons of snacks both times we went. All 6 of my children had a carry on with a bathing suit and snacks ! I just wrapped the juice boxes in wegmans bags, and put them in the luggage that we were shipping through. I brought 4 cases of juice and tons of breakfast foods, and what ever snacks the kids like. It worked out fine.

The 3 1 1 rule only applies to carry on bags. Checked baggage doesn't have this restriction.

You're fine with your prepackaged food and juice. Not so sure about trying to cross the border with the fruit, though. Definitely won't allow oranges. I know that. Get on the US border protection website, I'm sure it will give you the info you need.:)

You can't take fruit over the border. If you purchase the fruit in the US then this would work.

3-1-1 is about carry-on luggage. There isn't a restriction on volume of liquids in checked luggage.

If you're going to do this then bag the bananas too. Checked luggage is not treated that gently and they are likely to get swished.

I was planning on buying everything in the US. Thanks for the info about it only being carry on bags. Maybe I will just buy the bananas and apples in orlando. I was trying to figure out how to bring shampoo, conditioner, suntan lotion, toothpaste, shower gels, etc. in the luggage, just pack in checked luggage.:cool1: I love this board, everyone has all kinds of answers to every situation..:thumbsup2

I have taken cereal bars granolla bars and such with me in my luggage. They are very interesting about fruit. If you buy it at the airport it can be taken through customs.

Our last trip I had packed breakfast for my son to eat in the airport before going on the plane and there were oranges, grapes and blueberries.

Well the oranges got confiscated, but the rest was fine. Made me chuckle since the oranges were from Florida.

Also most resorts have a store where you can buy things like milk, and other foods you may need. When we stayed at OKW we just bought these things there bread, milk, water, butter coffee, even waffles. I did have to buy my tea in England at Epcot.

Have a great trip.

I always pack a piece of luggage with sundries and supplies (we usually have accommodations with a kitchen). I have brought baggies, coffee, tea, microwave popcorn, glowsticks (a must for evenings at Disney), laundry detergent, Lysol, dish soap, snacks, sunscreens, beach balls (blowups), goggles, etc. This is checked luggage and I heavily bag the liquids.

Take a trip to Dollarama and you can pick up all kinds of great things!

I used wegoshop to get fruit, drink packs, other food items and shhhh (beer) .... my concern would be putting my bag weight limit over $$$

I agree. Last time, I bought water and some fruit through Garden Grocers. Expensive, but I will do it again. Just that fact that I don't have to lug everything is good for me!

Just a tip on packing the juice boxes. Make sure that they are at least double wrapped and pack them with a good cushion around them.

We just came back from FL and when we were packing to come home my DD had 3 bottles of juice left over that we bought while there. She really liked it and wanted to bring it home. I agreed and put the bottles in a plastic bag and tied it tightly, then I did it twice more....so triple bagged. I then wrapped it in a towel and placed it in the middle of my suitcase surrounded by clothes. When I opened the bag at home they had leaked......fortunately most of the liquid was still in the plastic bags and the bit that got out was on the towel. These bottles were harder than a water bottle and with a sealed screw on lid.

I heard a really great tip for packing things like this.....wrap the juice or whatever in diapers and then bag it.

We rent a car for a day. It costs about $40 and they pick you up and drop you off at the resort. This time infact we are using airmiles. It is 200 airmiles a day.

The advantage to this.... you can get alcohol which can be more difficult to pack.

I have always taken a small plastic cutting board and a small kitchen knife which I put cardboard around and seal with tape. I then put the whole thing into a large sealed freezer bag to keep it clean and all together and pack it in my checked baggage. This is always great for cheese and crackers, fresh fruit, making sandwiches etc in a hotel room. I always bring a very small dishwasher liquid too to keep it clean. You would be surprised how many times I have used this setup. It is totally allowed under the plane. The resorts will be fine with you bringing in food but I strongly suggest keeping everything sealed so you dont end up with pests!
