Have I taken leave of my senses?

Next time I'm going to give Davewasbaloo or DLPDaft a cheque so one of you can get me a good deal. I could always leave the kids at home...;)

Breaking down the cost, it would be an extra £100 per night to stay at the DLH. No, I'm still no closer to a decision.:confused3

the way I run this is on a spreadsheet. If I am happy with the sacrifices, then it is worth it. If I am not, then it is not.

If £100 a night more means going easy for 6 weeks before or after the holiday, then I would go for it. If it is harder than that, I would skip it.

I like your thinking. I'm going to look at how much money I have for Christmas and whether it will make a significant dent in my spending. I'm exceptionally careful with money and I'm never 'silly' with over-spending, but sometimes being cautious gets soooo boring. lol

In March this year we stayed at the DLH and really enjoyed it - the dates we went were during the Free Night(3 for 2) & Kids Under 12 Stay & Play For Free Offers (you could combine them :thumbsup2 ) - if it hadn't been for those offers l don't think we would have stayed at the DLH, very lovely as it is. :lovestruc

If you don't stay at the DLH you could always spend time there - have dinner at Inventions restaurant, go to Cafe Fantasia, relax in the lounge, visit the gift shop & generally look round the hotel, just about everything really apart from having a room & eating beakfast there - it depends on how much you really want to do that. Is it now or never or could you go at sometime in the future and take advantage of Free Night/Kids Free Offer(s) then? Don't know if l've been any help at all, but here's some :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: to help you reach your decision. IMHO wherever you stay you'll have a great time as the main thing is you'll be at DLRP. :cloud9:

Thanks. The time we are staying is with all of the offers you mention - so it's not going to get any cheaper for us.

I had a conversation with the DH last night that went something like this:
DH: So what else does your £100 extra get you when staying at the DLH?
Me: Larger rooms, nicer surroundings, a hairdryer, closer to the park, character meet and greet at breakfast, um, um....
DH: Well Ok, if you think that's worth an extra £300...
Me: Sigh

Sensible me says 'No, don't do it, it's just a hotel, think about what else you could buy with the money!'
Disney Fan me says, 'Go for it! It might be your only chance and £300 isn't a fortune!'

AAAAArrrrrrrgggggghhhhh.

Its soooo obvious you want to go and you are hoping someone is going to come on and say the DLH is cack don't do it....

it isn't going to happen

book it and make us all jealous!:rotfl:

You are thinking about it TOO much now and when you do go you will be thinking 'oh we could have been in the DLH this time'...

I say book it and get it over and done with because you will keep wondering what it would have been like and it will put a dampner on your holiday!...

Then again think of the amount of waffles you could buy with £300!!:rotfl:

Oh no! you have never met me and yet you know me SOOOOO well!:lmao:
I am like this about everything. I am going to give myself one week to make a decision (by 1st October) and I'm not mentioning it again until I make a final decision. And that's final. I think.;)

Don't leave it too long as you may get a different price and then regret not booking it:rolleyes1

You'll have lots of fun staying in DLH so just go for it, looks like you really want to stay there:cool1:

Juliette, I just looked at your countdown - you are going in January, IMHO the proximity of the DLH to the park is a big plus when the weather is really cold. :cold:

yeah I have to agree with that, I would be scared the price goes up!

och book it, bet your nervous huh?:rotfl: Im nervous for you!!haha!!

, no security issues,

I hadn't thought about this before, the fact that the DLH is after the security point. So does that mean that DLH guests can effectively take anything they want into the park without being checked? Sounds dodgy to me. :confused3

Yep, one of the many, many reasons why the security tents are absolutely pointless.

Indeed. Plus, the security checks are very poor (and therefore a pointless waste of time) anyway.

If I wanted to take something into the parks I shouldn't be taking, all I would have to do is bury it at the bottom of my bag underneath some clothes or similar.

I haven't seen them use the hand based metal scanners in quite a few years now and the manual check inside your bag is woefully poor (open the bag, they check there's nothing on top, on you go).

I always need the opinions of about 10 people whenever I make a decision. It drives my friends and family mad. I was actually looking at thermals in M&S the other day. I am so transparent. :rotfl: I have already bought one daughter snowboots and am in the process of getting two of them Disney outfits to wear at character meals. Talk about over-preparing.

I am now starting to wonder how I will feel if the price goes up or there is no availability.:scared1:

You must be posh!!..M&S thermals?? Whats wrong with primark?:rotfl: Only kidding, I'm sure no matter what you choose it will be the right decision for you! By the way I am on about the accomodation not the thermals!!
My daughter had snowboots, helped her get on RnR coaster cause she was an inch higher than usual!;)

Yes, I should get myself down to Primark and save some money, then maybe I'd be able to afford an extra £300!:rotfl: I loved my middle DD's snowboots, eldest daughter snorted when I asked if she'd like some too - she thinks she's getting heels (no chance).

I've just managed to persuade someone to take us to the airport at 4am on the morning we go to DLRP, so I've saved on taxi fare or an airport hotel room...

You'll have that extra £300 saved in no time then :goodvibes !

joolz, u only live once!!!

we are stayin at sf again next yr because there are 5 of us, but it is my dream one day to stay at dlh. i was hoping that hubby and i would nip over for a nights stay for my 40th at the end of nov, but the cost is so much for a night, and as much as i want to need to even, i would rather wait til we go in jan and spoil ourselves as much as spending money allows.

£300 is or isnt a lot of money depending on what u have, if u can almost manage it, go for it, if u are going to worry abt it afterwards, don't do it, the dream can always become a reality at some point, but if it is within reach and u wont be going bk for a while, then GO 4 IT!!!

i am going to go into the hotel and sit in the lounge etc like has been recommended in this thread, and that'll do it 4 me..... for the time being:lovestruc

Hey there, look at our matching tickers! We are going at the same time!

I am sorely tempted to do DLH. Will be making my mind up shortly. Trouble is that my DH had set his heart on SL and was chuffed to be staying there. He can't see the attraction of the DLH.
