My girls will want the wands from olivanders but I read somewhere that they don't fit in the mandatory lockers At some of the rides. So what does everyone do with them on those rides? If we stay at an on site hotel, like RPR, ca we send them back to the hotel like when you buy stuff at disney?

Not sure whether or not wands will fit within the lockers, but you can send them back to your hotel.

I had trouble with the boxes, but the wand fit, kinda diagonal and we were good on those rides. Otherwise, we certainly take advantage of sending stuff back to the hotel. Chocolate frogs for sure.

You can send them back to the hotel, and unlike Disney, they will actually deliver it straight to your room which is nice! You can also have any in-park purchases sent to the front of the park for pick-up later in the day.

They fit fine. We had two wands with boxes in our lockers last month. After the first day when we didn't have the boxes with us anymore, the girls would put their wands flat against the bottom right hand corner of the locker so we could double-check the same spot each time before we closed the locker. The problem with sending the wand back to the hotel is that you are going to want to use it in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade.

Isn't there one or two wands that are longer than others? I do recall reading about the boxes for those not fitting, but that the wand itself could.

Yeah, that was probably my post. My 3 boys all got wands (a short a medium, and a long wand.) They all fit into the loclers just fine, but the longest wands box is just a couple centimeters long for the locker. It fit in diagonally, but we ended up smooshing a couple of the box's corners forcing the locker shut. Not a huge deal, just wanted to let everyone know that the longer wands can give you a bit of a hassle that first day with the box.

The first time we needed a locker for them in the boxes, I had to repack the locker and play with the longest box a bit.
I'm not sure if they are allowed, but you could ask if you can keep the wand out and send the box back (I've never tried, so I don't know if they can.)

It depends on the wand.

I got one of the biggest interactive wands for myself (the alder wand with the snakes and skulls on it). If it was in its decorative Ollivander wand box and bag, it would not fit in ANY of the lockers. If it was just the wand by itself, without the box, it would just barely fit in a locker if I carefully angled it in a bit and used my messenger bag to prop it up. Luckily we had purchased the wand close to the end of our day, so we didn't miss out on too much. I saw other people who had different sized, smaller wands and boxes and having alot less trouble putting theirs in lockers.

I probably could have crammed and squished the box to get in a locker, but I wanted to keep the box intact to store my wand in when I'm not using it. Plus the box looks really classy.

I wish my wand came with a disclaimer on the box: "MAY NOT FIT IN SOME RIDE LOCKERS."

I'm definitely going to ask about sending the box back to the room when we buy DD's wand. I don't want the box to get messed up!

If you're planning on buying a wand and not carrying it in the box, I recommend getting some of those pencil erasers. They fit on the end of the interactive wands and can keep them protected when putting them in lockers, purses, pockets, etc.

We bought the interactive Dumbledore wand and had no trouble fitting it into the lockers at FJ, Gringott's or the ones around the water rides in IOA. We had to put it in diagonally, but it fit. Even the box.

Depending on how flexible your plans are, we had great success avoiding the issue altogether by doing everything else, then heading to DA, purchasing the wand, and spending some time doing 'wand stuff' in both DA and Hogsmeade, then calling it a day. I foolishly thought that would take care of the necessity to carry it around for the rest of the trip...how foolish of me! Of course, my son had to lug it along the next days as well, but by then it wasn't an issue since we had just the wand and not the box.
