I know that earlier in the summer they really slowed down and I stopped listing stuff. If they are picking up I will get started again!

I started listing again. I'm not doing as good as I was this winter, but ok. I bid on about 4 things and I keep getting outbid. That's a good sign.

I just had 12 auctions end. The six that were lots of brand name kids clothes size 4 did terrible. The six that were for designer ladies clothes all sold, but most with just one bid at the opening price. I guess it depends on what you're selling! I'm going to wait a few weeks before trying again.

All of our laptops, PCs and dead laptops for parts have sold.

My college textbooks well, there have been slow sales. I have also listed them on half.com, so Its just a matter of time I guess.

My girls lot of 12/14 went well, started at 99 cents and went for $15.

My disney ladies dress only went for beginning bid (cute denim Pooh tigger dress)

We have two more PC's up and they have bids.

Sales have been pretty slow for me plus buyers are bidding at the last moment. Ack. lol

I've got some boys 4t sets, each with one bid, but lots of watchers. I also have some NWT Disney Store pj's up and two of those have bids too.

I've noticed that everything is bidding up at the last possible second. And I've been winning auctions being the only bidder...

Don't know if that's good or bad:rolleyes:

I was considering hopping back into the ebay business after a very long hiatus (since January!).... I even have pictures and descriptions ready on my Turbolister! But if sales are that slow, I think I will wait until late September or October. I would imagine things would pick up around then....................P

my sales have been very slow.I am thinking of waiting till Sept. to start back up again.I have some old dance outfits and ballet shoes of my daughters that are doing well but other than that it is really slow!

Sales are way up for me. I had a busy July (and I usually don't put anythign up in the summer) and am very very surprised at all my closings coming up tomorrow!

I didn't realize they were slow, either. I guess it depends on what you're selling and the demand at the time.

I am a new ebayer, but I am finding it very strange the things that sell and then the things that don't. First of my Disney things have not been good lists at all, but my old software has done well in my opinion. I thought I had a nice lots of girls limited too etc listed size 14, and it only has 6 hours left and no bids, with a starting bid at 1.99. So I don't know, I try to list a real variety of items. Just my two cents! :) I love the tips here though!!!:p :p :p

I am an "old" ebayer. I started selling in May 1997. Ebay has changed A LOT since then. It used to be a literal gold mine for sellers. Anything and everything sold and sold very well. As the user base expanded, prices realized gradually fell. We are now at the stage where nothing is rare anymore. I used to list a pretty uncommon item and get top dollar, often far beyond what the item commonly sold for in antique stores. Now, I'll do a search for what I believe to be an uncommon item and there will be 10 or 20 of them for sale. As a result, a lot of dealers like me are stuck with a large inventory of merchandise that we can't get rid of unless we sell it for a significant loss.

Although the growth of Ebay has been great for collectors and buyers, it hasn't been so terrific for dealers. There was just an article about this in the Philadelphia Inquirer. They were discussing folks selling family heirlooms that got passed down to people who really didn't want them. The one person quoted said that an item that would have brought $300 several years ago only brings about $30 today because the market is so flooded with merchandise.

What is turbolister? It sounds like something I need:D . Thanks

Interesting thought. We are old ebayers as well, maybe 1998.
I agree there is so much more things being sold than "back in the day".

Back then we were more buyers than sellers. I can imagine that dealers inventories are pretty much filled at the moment.

Our electronics items do go well. There must be many people out there that need parts for four year old laptops!

I've really noticed a pick up in sales but i am still getting last minute bidders too, they just go higher than i would expect. Most people have spent their vacation money/time and are starting to look to the holidays i think. (hope)

ITA

I've noticed the same thing with kids clothes.
Even last year I would sometimes get more for my DD's outgrown Zoodles outfits than I paid for them new. Now you do a search and there are pages and pages of choices - prices don't seem to be nearly as high.

I was amazed at how high some of my girls' gymnastics leotards used to sell for too. Now there are so many retail shops who put their clearance stuff on e-bay and even sellers who make leos and list them at really low starting prices (I wonder how they even make a profit) that the used leos don't get the prices they used to.

This is part of the problem. Years ago, ebay was basically a giant online yard sale. Then major companies and even government agencies saw the appeal of the system and ebay became overrun with professional sellers. Many companies sell their overstock and discontinued items. States sell their confiscated goods. Again, its great for buyers but has made it much more difficult for small sellers like myself. At my peak, I was doing nearly $3000/month in sales. Now, that would be nearly impossible unless I ebayed 24/7.

I havent been doing it for too long but noticed it has been hit or miss. I mainly sell kids clothing and amazed sometimes on what sells and what doesnt. Just made more than I would ever imagine on NFL Logo clothing for toddlers- buy it now. I do buy alot more than I sell and found some great bargains on toys for my kids that if I paid retail would be much more. I do sell items in their season since I tend to make more on them that way. of course name brands make the most money. Im amazed on what my kids shoes have gone for. I always buy them on sale and almost always make 100% profit on ebay when I sell them. I have found that making my shipping at right around cost helps. I just buy my envelopes at the dollar store and save all our boxes to keep things cheep. I do think that helps.

On your textbooks, you might want to try Amazon.com Marketplace. I've some really good luck there lately with my college textbooks.
