Does anyone know if the park first aid stations have the ability to check blood pressure? We leave a week from today for a big, multi-family trip and my mom has been experiencing some issues with higher than normal blood pressure. Her doctor told her to monitor it daily (like at one of the self-service machines at a CVS/Walgreens). I thought that if they could do that at the park first aid station, it would save us a trip offsite each day.

I don't know if they can do it at first aid or not, but if not, I would buy a home blood pressure machine. They're not that expensive, and it would save the time and trouble of a trip offsite.

I second the idea of getting a home cuff -- they come in wrist or arm versions, very easy to use. You can probably pick one up at a local drug store or WalMart for under $50. Very compact and will travel easily.

I actually did find out that the First Aid stations can check it for her. Thanks everyone for the alternate suggestions! We will keep that in mind as well. Hoping this is just a temporary thing.

Keep in mind, first aid is in the front of the park. It is only going to help there, not any where else through out park.

yes they do haVE THEM AT FIRST AID BUT LIKE OTHER SAID YOU MIGHT WANT TO PICK UP ONE FOR YOUR SELF. ( sorry for the all caps hit cap lock and did not want to retype every thing)

Keep in mind you should measure your blood pressure at the same time every day for monitoring purposes. In addition, you should have been seated, relaxed, for at least 5 minutes before measuring. These 2 things will be hard to accomplish at the First Aid centers in the parks.

Spend like $50 and buy a portable unit off Amazon or at Target/Walmart and bring it with you, and take her blood pressure right after walking up in the morning, before she gets up and moving. This will give you the most accurate readings.

Thanks for the advice everyone. We have it covered. Mods can close this thread :)
