Have any of your relatives reached the grand age of 90 or above?

Both my grandmother have made it to 95 with all their faculties. My paternal grandmother uses a walker & still lives on her own. My father, aunt or uncle are with her most of the time

My great uncle died a few years ago age 98. He was very active up to the end, including going out to his favorite bar and drinking and dancing until 2 a.m.

True story: it was a January night. He was out at his bar. Some friends drove him home at 2 a.m. (he had stopped driving a few years previously). They let him out at the entrance to the parking lot of his apartment complex (instead of pulling in and up to his apartment). My uncle was walking across the parking lot when he fell down (slipped on ice). He injured his hip and could not get up, and so laid there for about two hours until found by someone. He was taken to the hospital, against his wishes.

I visited him that next night. He seemed fine and in good spirits. Later that night, while a friend was visiting, he got out of his hospital bed, excused himself and walked into the bathroom. After about 15 minutes of no sound of activity his friend became worried and peaked in: my uncle had quietly died while sitting on the toilet.

Of course, he had many great stories, like how during Prohibition he would drive down to Galveston and take a ‘party cruise’ out to international waters, and about the various speakeasies here in Fort Worth.

He once told me the secret to a long life: eat a banana a day, which he did faithfully since childhood.

No one in our family lived past their 70s-early 80s. I miss the older generation, especially at the holidays. It's nice that many of you can still enjoy time with your loved ones. :goodvibes

My Gpa is 93. He lives in his own house and still drives (just down the street to church or the store when it is light out and not rainy/snowy). He has a helper M-F in the mornings. My Gma passed away last year at just over 90. Her mother lived to almost 100. This is on my dad's side. On my mom's, they both died in their late 50s of cancer. So, it's a toss up, really...I hope I got the gene's from dad!

I think my grandmom is 90ish... well I know she is, but I don't know exactly how old.

My Great Uncle Sylvan died just short of turning 100. But his brother (my grandfather) only made it to 58 due to a brain tumor so we have both long and short lives in the same family.

My mother's mother was somewhere in her 90s when she died. She had Alzheimer's.

My mom's parents each only made it to 72.

My Great Aunt turned 90 last April. She lives on the beach in Sarasota FL, plays bridge twice a week, and drives her Buick about 100mph everywhere. She has red hair and a personality to match!
She looks about 65...

She gave up golf at 88 because her knees hurt. Doesn't wear glasses, and can drink 3 martinis or Manhattans and not blink.
Was an ER Nurse and didn't get married until 50. Travelled the world.
I hope I grow up to be just like her!

3 out of 4 did and they all lived 97 - 99.
