I am looking forward to trying it out. I think the theming is cool. Just curious if any of my fellow discampers have tried it out yet.

Not I.

We wanted to, but with a two hour wait, and they aren't accepting the Safari card for priority seating till January, wasn't going to wait. We went to Rainforest instead and were seated in 5 minutes.

I am going to try an early lunch. We will see. I won't wait for two hours that is for sure.

Thank you!

I just listened to a recent DIS podcast review on T-Rex. Kevin was predictable in his lack of enthusiasm regarding the theming, but it sounds like the place is downright raucous, and the food was compared to TGIFridays for 3 times the price. He can be a prima-dona about these things, but I would at least listen to the review before making up my mind.

I did eat there this past week and agree with the TGIFriday comparison. There was one good outcome, after getting our bill wrong three times (yes 3 times) it turns out they didn't charge us for the meal.

The inside was neat but it did not overcome the average food and service.

After reviewing the menu on-line, and the prices, we will likely not go there. The menus at House of Blues & Rainforest Cafe are much better for the price. If I want a hamburger, I'll go around the corner to Ale House & get a great burger for half the price.

Thanks guys. I will keep reading reviews and just wing it when we get there. If we go up and there really isn't any line I will probably give it a try.
I have heard good reviews and a few bad reviews. Although I did read a few reviews saying you did get good portion sizes.

We might try it next week but only if the wait is less than an hour!

OH CRAP. I just read Deb's post - probably go to Raglan Road instead then.

I stood outside of it a couple weeks ago just to look inside at the Dinosaurs. They were cool. We looked at the menu and prices and said it wasn't worth it. It was really crowded. Rainforest, on the other hand, was practically begging people to eat there. I'm not sure it was such a wise move for that company to place two restaurants so close together and compete against themselves. We ate at Captain Jacks and had a great bowl of chowda and a roastbeef sandwich at a fraction of the cost and no wait for a table.

We tried Sat night 2 + hour wait. The prices were nuts too. If I want a good burger I would go Steak and Shake in the crossroads. If I want pizza I will go to Cici's Pizza also in the crossroads where I can feed a family of 4 for less than $30.00

I think there are a lot of improvements that could be made. For one, there should be drool coming out of the Dino's mouth. Nothing like some prehistoric reptile spit dripping onto your fries to add that sense of realism. Also, I think it would be fun if the animatronic T rex would occasionally reach down and grab a kid and swallow him. I think I'd like to see that, especially if it was one of those pia kids pushing you in the lines at an attraction. If I were a CM, I'd seat a kid like that in the "hot seat" under T rex on purpose. I bet the kids parents wouldn't even notice.

We tried it our first night two weeks ago or so. Way loud and chaotic. And really mediocre food and service.

We will not return.

We ate there in Oct during our visit. Can't remember which day exactly but I think it was a Thurs night. They said the wait would be 1\2 hour so we decided to wait. After the 1\2 hour went by and they hadn't called our name we went back up to check and they put us in. We probably should have left instead. The food was OK but definitely overpriced. The service wasn't good and people were complaining about how close together the tables were. We were in a booth in the water section so we didn't have that problem but the people at the tables across from us had such an issue that management was called. I guess the 2 tables couldn't agree on who was taking up too much room. They were angry and gesturing wildly so I image they were pretty loud in their talking although we could hear none of it because of the noise in the restaurant.

We aren't huge fans of Rainforest either but thought my nephew would enjoy the dinosaur decor so we decided to try it. Instead he was tired and hungry and not so patient during our wait at the table for food. I think all told from the time we sat down at our table till we left was a good 2 1\2 hours. It took 20 minutes to get our bill and another 15 to get the credit cards back (yea we should have paid cash and gotten out of there). I think part of the problem was it was difficult for the server to get back to us. They really should spread out those tables some.

Are we glad we tried it? Yes. Will we be back? NO!!
Like others have said better food elsewhere or the same food for cheaper elsewhere.

Maybe I should just go take a peek at it and eat somewhere else. I wasn't thinking of a burger or pizza. Maybe I better recheck their menu. I thought they had other stuff, kinda like RC.

I like Rainforest Cafe. It is expensive but you get a good amount of food so to me that doesn't seem as bad as when it is expensive and you can't even fill your tummy!

Sounds like to me people like Rainforest Cafe better.

Thanks guys!

That would be funny! Good idea. You should email that to them and see what they think. :rotfl: Would be VERY nice for the pia kids. Maybe it could even swallow some pia adults.
