My brother is trying to talk me into taking the family to Vegas next summer (instead of WDW:eek: ) and wants to stay at the Monte Carlo.

Have you ever stayed there? I need pros and cons!

We did not stay there Kitty but did the Sunday brunch there {it was awesome}. The location is excellent, center of the strip :)

Thanks Patrick. My brother says they have a pretty cool pool....did you see it?

I'm a Swan/Dolphin lover so any pool would be hard to compare to the Grotto!!!

Yep, I've stayed there. :)

I liked it -- great location, subtle theming (almost to the point of having none), relaxed atmosphere. The rooms are nice, but nothing overly special and the casino is pretty nice, not too big (e.g. MGM Grand) so you don't get lost in it. Interesting fact -- it's one of the few casinos (if not the only one) that you can get to the hotel rooms without walking through the casino.

The pool -- it's nice, has a small wave pool IIRC, but compared to some of the other pools in Vegas, it pales in comparison.

Let me know if you have any other questions. :)

Saw the pool but it was Feb so no one was in it :( There is a cool tram that connects to Bellagio, Monte Carlo all the way down to Luxur and Mandilay Bay that you can access in the "food court" of Monte Carlo. Its free and saves on the walking if you are wishing to tour :)

Thankyou Steve and Patrick for the info.

I like the idea, of going to and from the rooms without going thru the casino....especially because we will be taking our boys.:D

I have a good friend who goes to Vegas every year with her family. They mostly do the shows and have a wonderful time, but I don't think they stay at the Monte Carlo.

***ACK*** there is a tram from Bellagio & Monte Carlo to Mandalay Bay and Luxor????? We were just there and stayed at Treasure Island, and by the time we 'strolled' to Bellagio, I did not want to walk any more. had I known about the tram...

Kitty, we never made it into Monte Carlo, but one of our friends stayed there for the same wedding we attended, and really liked it.

:o :o Whoops, deb!! I guess it could be said that planning for a Vegas trip is probably only second to planning for a WDW trip -- the right strategy and plan of attack can make all the difference.

There's actually a number of trams and other forms of free transportation that can be helpful in getting around the Strip. I sometime use them, and sometimes enjoy the walk. That walk from Monte Carlo to Bellagio isn't one that I prefer to make!

We've been to Vegas 5 times and stayed at Monte Carlo on our 2nd trip. It's a very nice resort. Lots of people love the mid-Strip location but we've discovered we prefer the south end of the Strip better. Just a personal preference for us like some people like the Poly and others like BC.

I haven't been in over a year but there was no tram from Monte Carlo to Mandalay Bay last time I was there. There is a tram from MB to Luxor to Excalibur and another from MC to Bellagio. Also one from MGM to Bally's.

Vegas.com doesn't show a tram from MC to MB either: LV monorails

We have stayed there. I also like that fact that you can easily move from your room to the garage without getting lost in the casino. That's a really big PLUS! :D The rooms were just fine. They not ultra-luxurious, but they were not plain either. They were very clean. The only thing I didn't like (and maybe I'm alone here) is I thought the bathroom was too dark. The shower area did not have a light over it and they light over the vanity area was not very bright. I like to see what I'm doing, be it in the shower or at the mirror. That is my only complaint. As for the food, they have a nice selection. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet with made-to-order omelettes. And the food court is good if you're in a hurry, although its just your standard fast food fare. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give the Monte Carlo a 6.5.

I was stayed at the Monte Carlo about one year ago, and it's wonderful. Like everyone else said the location is great, and the rooms are very nice for the money. It has a very elegant understated feel and the buffett is one of my favorites! The pool is also one of the nicest. (I am a travel agent, and I've stayed in most of the "newer hotels" on that end of the strip!)

I was just in Vegas again last month (stayed at Mandalay Bay that time) and there isn't a tram from Monte Carlo down to M Bay. Just thought I'd let you know that so you didn't think you could get down there that way. The tram that runs is at the Excalibur and goes to Luxor and then down to M Bay. There isn't anything that runs over the street from NY NY to Excalibur. \

Have a great time even though it's not WDW!!
