on a cruise ship? You know what I'm talking about. The solo rooms that are 99 square feet. Do they have a refrigerator? If you've stayed in one, please share your experience. Very unlikely I'll ever go alone on a cruise. I would love to go on a solo trip somewhere someday, but my DS is 4. I'm not ready to leave him just yet. In a few years yes.

Yes, we did the solo cabins on NCL and it was fantastic. It gave each of us our own little cocoon at any time day or night without worrying about anyone else's privacy/space.

No mini fridge. The bed was incredibly comfortable and large. There is a separate lounge only accessible for other solo cabin guests; it felt very secure and is a wonderful place to gather and make new friends have a drink/snack/watch television. Even though we didn't travel alone, the 2 separate solo studios worked better for us then when we shared a 2 BR suite on Royal Caribbean.

Treat the room as a place to escape, sleep, shower, etc. and save the double occupancy surcharge.

Doesn't this depend on the cruiseline and the level of stateroom you book? NCL is often named, but there are more with solo cabins.

And if it is going to happen in a few years, maybe ten-twenty years... a lot probably has changed. A cabin might not have a fridge now, but it might in the future. Usually it will be mentioned in the list of amenities, so you know in advance.

I wouldn't be surprised if a future trend is to cater more to solo travellers throughout the entire hospitality industry. More cabins/rooms, solo lounges, activities.

I was booked in one, but thanks to sales coming out of the restart I ended up upgrading. I would definitely book one again. I got to see the studio lounge and it's a nice space, plenty of room if you just want to be somewhere outside of your room.
