On 2 previous vacations in the past to WDW, my family & I had rented from National Car Rental. I remeber I was reading in the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World how they rated them with the best numbers in all catigories, so we thought we would give them a try. The 1st time we rented from them the clerk could not find our reservation & it took her 30 minutes to ask the manager for help because she kept looking for it & when she asks the manager guess what happens, she is able to find our reservation. We rented from them a 2nd time because we thought we would give them one more chance & because were members of the Disney Club when they were still opearting & we had a coupon for a discount on our car. This time they had no problem finding our reservation & they saw we had asked for discount when we called to make the reservation. She then asks for the coupon that says what we are getting. Well at 1st my Dad could not find it & the Girl says sir if you can't find it, we can not give you your car. Thankfully he found it, but still after seeing our reservation there, getting his drivers license & seeing on her computer what discount we were getting, we could not belive what she told us. Also the coupon never said anything like must be prestented upon check in. Anyway after we got the keys & everthing my parents said we will never rent from your company again. So ever since that day we have rented from AVIS & have never had any problems with them.

Anyway I was wondering has anyone else ever had problems with National Rent A Car & if so what were they?

I've never had a problem with National and we use them on the average of 2 times a month.
Are you a member of EA?
Sorry you have had so many problems with them.

I've rented many times and never have had a problem. I do, however, use EA and always have my reservation/confirmation printed out with any coupons stapled to it and just hand the whole thing to the person at the booth.

Good Luck!

Nope never had a problem with them, the most polite rental car company we have encountered at MCO...They do require a coupon if you are using it on your reservation though, we have found. Hope you have better luck with Avis.... :sunny:

Another poster with no problems with National, here. We have only used Emerald Aisle (Emerald Club), so the entire process has been a breeze.

The first trip my MIL and FIL had a car from National as well. The drove to the coast right after Hurricane Charley hit. On the way back no gas stations were open and their gas light was on. They were near MCO so they pulled in to the rental return area. The manager there told them to take one of the other cars there as a swap. The manager never charged them for a tank of gas or anything. The car they took was full. They were willing to pay for it, but were never asked to.

I won't use anyone else.......only National and Emerald Club at MCO.

I just got home tonight, used National. I've never had any problems. I got a full size from the Executive Aisle (I got an executive card from work), paid $105 incl tax for 6 days. Got a loaded Impala with only 723 miles on it. I love that you can pick your own car. I always hand in the coupon.

We returned a car last year after one of the hurricanes, with an empty tank, we told them we could not get gas, National told us not to worry about it.
No charge.
