Have any of you been to Hilton Head in January?

Thinking of going there for MLK weekend. I know it will be cold, but I love the resort. Gosh, it was even cold last year at that time when we were at WDW. Is anything open at HH, or is the island pretty dead? Those points are really low at that time, so I guess that indicates not much is happening, but it sure is tempting! Thanks for any input. candace

We went in early January the year before last. It snowed one day and we were in the pool on others. There were plenty of activities at the resort for the kids so we didn't venture out on the island much and can't comment on how much there was to do outside the resort.

Hope this helps.

We were there last year for MLK weekend. It was COLD!!! But, it is hard to say what it will do next year. Here in the South, it's hard to predict. It blew in and blew out just a quick. The next weekend at home (we live 2.5 hours south of HH) was beautiful. Go figure!! The one weekend I chose to go Horsebackriding and we freeze!! Had I just waited one more weekend.....

Side note...we bought our DVC membership at OKW during the weekend of the "Winter Hurricane, 1993". We were staying at the Yacht and Beach. The weather was horrible and we were so bored that we watched the pitch on the TV all weekend and decided to "Just Look" on our way home Sunday morning. My DH, who would NEVER consider a timeshare was SOLD right away!! So was I. WE say this was our best investment! Had the weather not been nasty, we would have most likely passed it up.
