Have any DVC Members done a Half Marathon or Full At Disney world?

I did the half in '06, '07, and '08, and the full in '09.

The courses are quite flat except for the clover-leaf ramp that transfers from Epcot to Magic Kingdom. THere's a ton of entertainment and characters, so it's not boring. (Although the stretch from the Grand FLoridian to AK on the full course is realllllly boring.) I don't know whether they've kept the Wine and Dine course consistent, though.

The field in January is huge with up to 16,00 participants in either race. I don't think the Wine and Dine is nearly that big, yet.You have to get up reallllly early-- they typically want people in corrals at 5:30. You might have to leave your resort before 4:00. Their races are very well organized.

The course limit is generous for runners and doable for athletic walkers; you have to keep up a 16 minute mile which is about 4 miles an hour.

I'd do the half again in a heartbeat. Maybe it's time for me to go back.:rolleyes1

I did Wine and Dine as my first half last year, and really enjoyed it - however, there are long stretches of running on Ocescola Parkway and very little time spent running inside the parks. That said, the event was a lot of fun, and I liked it so much I did Princess this year and will be doing the Donald half in Jan.

I did the half Wine and Dine last year...loved it! I'm a night person, so it worked well for me. Lots of music, etc. along the way. Just remember to hydrate all day long because even though the race is in the evening it can still be fairly warm and humid.

DH and I did the F&W last year. It was a lot of fun, but we run in the morning and the night run was a little odd for us. The run went well, but the after party was really crazy. We got back to the room, showered and were in bed at 3:30am and we could not sleep! We ended up getting up at 7:30, eating breakfast and hitting a park. It really hit us later that night. I would suggest running at night in your training to get used to it. You'll have a blast if you decide to do it.:goodvibes

Another vote for wine & dine here -- my wife and I did it last year and it was a blast - trying to convince her that we should do it again this year. I didnt mind the highway sections and it was very cool to run through the parks at night and see a few backstage areas.
