Have a Treehouse Reserved for August, but thinking of trying to trade . .

So we are traveling down in August and since SSR is our home resort we were able to reserve two treehouse villas (we are traveling down with my SIL and her family too) Given the number of us (13) at our 7 month window I was going to try and move us to two 2BR at Boardwalk.

I have never stayed at the Treehouses and I was psyched to get them, but I am worried about the amount of walking/switching buses we will need to do with two 5 year olds at night when they are tired.

All the kids and my DH want to stay in the Treehouses. Has anyone stayed there that can help me out with some feedback? Should we stay?

In October, we found the internal bus that does the treehouse loop to be VERY convenient. Nearly every time we got off a park bus, a treehouse bus would be arriving shortly, if not at the same time.

Our DGC are older, were 6 ,7 and 8. Everyone of us, they and we 5 adults loved the THV stay.

We stayed at THV's last year before our DCL cruise. There was 7 of us, 4 adults and 9,4,2 kids. It was wonderful to have the 3rd bedroom. For us, it was an awesome experience, but we LOVE the location of BCV, BWV and BLT with little ones.

We have three children too 10, 7 &5. How was the walk to the main pool? Did you have to take the bus?

We just stayed at SSR in the Grandstand section. We walked over to the THV and also got a private tour of one of the THV. We were very intested in the goings on for THV since we'll be staying there with family in May.

The internal busses for THV stop at Grandstand and the Springs only. The Grandstand is the first pickup and the first drop off going to and from the parks. Most times getting off the bus there was a THV bus waiting there, especially at night coming back from the fireworks.

You would get off at the Springs for the main pool.

Depending upon which THV you are in, it is not a very far walk from the THV walkway into Grandstand area. There are 2 bus stops in the THV area.

To get to the main pool, you would have to walk through the Grandstand area, up to the check in area and then down to the pool. That is not a far walk for me, but I like to walk. I think it would be a far walk for little ones with no stroller.

I know a lot of people would get off the bus at the Grandstand stop and then walk back to THV. The opions are yours.

I am not sure if the THV bus that is at the Grandstand goes back to the Springs or directly to the THV - maybe someone else could respond to that quetions.

BTW when hubby and I would want to go to the bar for a nightcap, we would get off the bus at the Springs and after playing a nice game of pool in the bar area, we would walk back to our room at the Grandstand.

When we stayed in the Grandstand in 2009 we walked through the treehouses a lot to get on the boat. My kids were so scared of the area at night when I said I booked it for 2012 they freaked out!!! I'm hoping maybe for 2013 they can be braver and give it a try. I think it would be a fun adventure for kids...now only if my kids agreed!

I am still torn, I would love the convenience of being able to walk to EPCOT and DHS without getting on the bus, but I am in minority with this opinion out of the group of 13 that are going. It looks awesome, and given what you are saying, it looks like we will stay with the THV.

Have any of you used the grills at the THV? Does Boardwalk have grills to use? We planning on cooking dinner/lunch at our room more this time and bypassing the DDP, given the increase in cost.

Once you stay in the Boardwalk/Beach CLub area it is SOOO Hard not to... I say, try the Treehouses this trip and BWV next time. We have stayed at BCV 3 straight visits bc we cant tear ourselves away. Especially the convienence of the 10 minute walk after Epcot firewalks...no busses to deal with... and after Fantasmic at HS its a nice walk or boatride back.. ..

with a group that large, I would lean toward the treehouses. The three full bedrooms, while "cozy", are wonderfull and they allow everyone to have more personal space. Depending on the breakdown of adults and kids, you may even be able to eliminate the need to turn the living room couch into a bed. We find this makes the villa much more pleasant. If the whole trip (or a majority) will be focused on Epcot then perphaps I would consider trying to switch, but note that more people will be on a sofa if you go that route.

We used the THV grill, it's very convenient, right by your villa!

I think BWV has a grill by the villa pool, but I've not used it.

We stayed in THV this past March and loved them. With 4 boys, it was nice not to have to worry about how much noise they were making.We asked to be near the boat dock, which put us at under a 10 minute walk to the bus stop at the Grandstand and also to the main building. We are looking forward go staying there again. They are beautifully decorated and it was nice to be able to separate the kids out at bed time and we also really enjoyed the large deck.

Ditto... all very well said. Plus you would want to make sure the ones on the sleeper sofa are the early risers. Otherwise, their bedroom space becomes the living room again in the morning with the first risers.
