I remember reading on another Disney board the story behind the Haunted Mansion stating that the bride hid in a trunk in the attic and Madam Leota locked her in it and she died, but I seem to remember that on the Keys to the Kingdom tour, our tour guide telling us she was pushed out of the window in the attic, hence when you are going backwards in the doom buggies you see the broken window. Can anyone clarify this for me? Thanks a lot.

You should check out www.doombuggies.com for a resolution to this question. I know the answer but a visit to this site is a MUST for any Mansion fans, so I'm gonna tell you to hop on over there and enjoy...

Just last week I was told there was no official storyline for the Haunted Mansion. Now I seriously challenged that statement as Walt created the concept of storyboarding. However, with all the background given on the evolvment of the attraction, I suppose it could be true that there was lots of possible storylines and as Walt died before ONE could be chosen. Imagineers along with HM Servants have all chosen bits and pieces of the versions they like best and go with it.

My KTTK tourguide shared the bride in the attic story but omitted sharing how the trunk mysteriously became locked.

Storyboarding is used to establish camera angles and movement for a film not necessarily to develop the story.

Jeff,

I checked out doombuggies. Cool site, but there appears to be no "official" story. What pintrader said makes sense that there are different stories from all of the imagineers and cast members that worked HM. I am going to believe that she either was pushed or threw herself out of the attick window as you can see the broken window pane when you are going backwards in your buggie. I like that story :D

Most of the stories are made up by the CM's that work there, there is in fact a story line that the imagineers created that has been imbelished over the years. Check out this web page :)

It was created by your Haunted Mansion Servant Tina, it is really cool and most of the stories are the ones you have heard along the way :)

I have a feeling that an "official" story will be taken from the script of the Haunted Mansion movie (which I'm anxiously awaiting!)

Any information that you need will be in the new book about the Haunted Mansion, just published a few weeks ago, by Author and Imagineer Jason Surrell.

The name of the book is: The Haunted Mansion: From the Magic Kingdom to the Movies.

The Nightmare Before Christmas transformation is only for Disneyland not for DisneyWorld.

thanks for letting me know...

I feel for you, gypsy. Every year I hear rumors of how it might come to Disneyworld. I get my hopes up only to have them dashed. ;) I think it would be a lot of fun. The reasoning, besides the cost, is that most people who go to Disneyland are repeat visitors so they have seen Haunted Mansion before and appreciate the change. Whereas Disneyworld is often a once in a lifetime experience and if someone came for the first and only time, they might be disappointed to not see the Mansion the regular way.

Sounds like a silly reason to me especially since our first and what I thought would be our only trip to WDW was when the pink (birthday cake) castle was there. No one cared about the once in a lifetime view of the castle for WDW visitors.

There are still rumors that it may come to WDW in the next year or so but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you, especially since the Haunted Mansion movie just came out, they may want to keep the original.

I saw a premier of the haunted mansion this morning and I have to say the story line was like none I have heard from any cast member, on doombuggies or anywhere else. I was hoping that someone out there might have heard this story before that way I wouldn't feel like it was too far off from what Walt might have thought. There were bits and pieces of stories that I have heard in this movie but I haven't ever heard it told the way they did it

Ok now that I have said that, I LOVED THE SHOW... it was well put together, I will be seeing it again!!! I am definately a "Foolish Mortal" I love this stuff!

well, the Haunted Mansion may be pretty scary, but one thing scarier than that is me running around in the buff wearing pink scarves!:hyper: :rotfl:

but i do love the idea...

Just WAIT till you see the movie!!! I got to see a special screening of it yesterday. Got the tickets through doombuggies.com (thank you! to them) and attended the movie showing on Nov 22nd. It was SUPERB, AWESOME!!! The story was really terrific. Lots of things from the ride incorporated into the movie. Really, really fun. Eddie Murphy was terrific. It was actually better than I expected it to be.

GO SEE IT Wednesday!!!
