Haunted Mansion overlay

My daughter and I are thinking about doing a short couple day trip to DL but she doesn't want to go when the overlay is on Haunted Mansion. She loves it too much the regular way. Could someone please tell me when they usually have it with the overlay so we can avoid it? Thank you!

Disclaimer: we don't know yet if the overlay is happening this year or not. So it may not matter this year.

In the before times, it was best to avoid late August to at least mid January, but sometimes even late January if one wanted to avoid HMH. This accounts for the down time on both ends to have it added and removed.

Thank you. Yeah I believe we went in late January one year and it was still up but I wasn't sure if I was remembering right. I appreciate the response!

It does vary so best to have cancelable plans if this one ride is important to a trip. In 2011 it was back up 1/13, but it wasn't back up until 1/23 in 2013 (and it seems to have mostly stayed in between those dates based on historical closure information).

But last year late January wouldn't have worked, though, as it did go down for a refurb period when it went down to remove the overlay. And there's not always a lot of warning before those happen. Obviously not a regular occurrence, but something to watch for too.

Yeah it is my daughter's favorite ride so she would be disappointed if we couldn't do it. I may just play it safe then and avoid it until after January just to be safe. Thank you!

For OP's information: January 2020 was when that happened. IASW went down from 1/7/2020-1/17/2020. HM went down 1/21/2020 and, as we all know, didn't reopen before the parks closed.
