These days sometimes it seems that "service" is a dirty word. Today was not one of those days. I just got off the phone with a customer service rep with Northwest and they were fantastic!
I booked award travel for my daughter and myself on NWA's website about a week ago to take advantage of the 15,000 mile specials. At the time, my husband encouraged me to book later in the day with my arrival into TPA at 6:00 pm with a long layover in DTW. His company is paying for his flight, so he called his TA to get the same flight and ended up leaving at the crack of dawn and flying into MCO at 1:30. Oh well.
I called NWA today and explained that my hubby was flying a different carrier, blah, blah, blah and to see if I could stand-by earlier in the day so I could get to Tampa earlier. When he told me "sure", that made me pretty happy
. Then the rep said "what time does you husband leave?". Would the 7:20 flight be OK with you getting into TPA at 1:09? Would it by OK? You bet! He confirmed me on the earlier flight and made seat assignments. Now I can go to the airport with my husband, I get in earlier, my layover is much shorter and I am very very happy.
Thank you Northwest Airlines!
PS: This almost makes up for NWA stranding me overnight at DTW 4 out of 5 times in 1998.
