has your child ever "caught" you?

every single year, I am terrified that my kids will walk in on me "playing Santa". I almost throw up everytime I hear the slightest noise! When I am all done with the presents, I dash to bed like a crazy woman because I don't want them to wake up after the fact and find me still awake and question why Santa came while I was still up!

Just wondering if any of your kids have ever caught you putting out the presents, and if so, what did you do/say?

My kids haven't caught me but I caught my mom when I was in 2nd grade-bye bye Santa Claus!!

Santa was already here. I dash to the computer and who gets up to go to the bathroom? DS! lol! I tucked him in just like I do every night when he gets up and I'm Dising.

i saw my mom puttin out the presents in 3rd grade

omg i was so upset....

i was terrified DD would see me taking bags out
of the car.....last night.....

HOWEVER......

she noticed i regifted her doodle doll

gave it to her for her birthday......to much stuff....put it away...

found it last night.....put it out...

MOM....WOW I GOT THIS FOR MY BIRTHDAY

I've known for about five years about "the truth."
I never caught my parents. Until last year.
My bedroom window faces the dining room/family room window; I can see right in.

Last year.

It was the saddest thing.

I just felt . . horrible.
Last night I was thinking about it and I almost started crying.​

This year the kids managed to see all the really good things that santa was going to give them... so they became gifts from mom and dad. LOL

Also last night my 2nd grader started to walk downstairs as I was putting out gifts... I yelled at her... poor thing! Then I went up and said, Mommy was putting out gifts from daddy and me, then I was going to go to sleep so Santa could come... she bought it. Whew!

I caught my parents one year bringing the gifts in. They told me that since we didn't have a chimney, Santa had to leave the presents on the front porch. I was 5, so I believed them.

We almost got caught last night!!!

Both kids had fallen asleep early so dh & I were putting things out last night around 9:00. Just when we finished up we heard dd7 walking down the stairs! Dh was very quick-acting and shut out all the lights in the family room and we hustled her back upstairs. Ds12 was also up using the bathroom.

Close call!

One of the benefits (and there really are very few) of DD7 sleeping at her dad's every other Christmas eve is that DH and I get to just hang out after church on CE and have some wine and snacks. In the morning, we get up late (8:00!!) and have our coffee and bagels and read the paper. About 10:00 or 10:30 we got everything set. DD will be back at noon...no worries about her sneaking up on us.
