We leave in 10 days:yay: We are staying at the POLY for a week, I wanted to know if any of you just got back from the POLY has it been very crowded? Last time we were there in August it was very crowded and no room in the Volcano pool:(
Also kinda hoping for maybe an UPGRADE:thumbsup2

If you were there last August , I think it was crowded because the AK Lodge guests were moved because of the construction. I was there and yes a few times I ended up swimming at the quiet pool because I couldn't find a seat at the Volcano Pool.

Our family was at the Poly for the first full week in June and while I was told that the resort was not fully booked, the Volcano pool was packed ... non-stop packed.

Captn Cooks was quite manageable at breakfast time however and the only time there seemed like there were a ton of people at the resort was when it rained (poured!) right when the Luau was supposed to start one night and they had all the guests for that even gathered in the lobby area. That was a zoo.

Thanks for the replies:) I just hope it might calm down a little before we get there but I doubt it:goodvibes

Last December my family and I stayed there before Christmas and while the Volcano pool was busy, there were never any major problems getting chairs. Besides that there were times when Captin Cook's was busy and other times when it was less busy.

During my stays at the Poly, I've noticed that during 'peak times' Captain Cooks and the Volcano Pool can get crowded. It is manageable (we managed to snag some chairs) but some folks might not find it to be. I've been there when the resort was at capacity (Christmas) and not at capacity (late August).

We were there June 14-21 and Poly was near/at capacity. I'll echo PP in saying Captain Cook's and Volcano pool were packed at times, but there at other times it was very manageable. We avoided the really peak times and were always able to get a table at Cook's. We only went to the Volcano pool once (my teenagers preferred the quiet pool). We went late morning and it was not crowded at all. Mid-afternoon looked to be really crowded - it was really hot and I imagine a lot of people left the parks during the heat of the day. At any rate, while the parks seemed to be wall-to-wall people, we never felt that way at the Poly. :cool1:

We have never been at the Poly during the summer months when it has'nt been very crowded. The volcano pool always has alot of kids in it. More during the mid afternoon hours. Although we've never had any problems finding space or chairs. :)

I was just there visiting some friends on Wednesday June 25. I went to the front desk to ask if we could use the pool since we were not guests, but just visiting guests. They told me that the pool had not been crowded so it would not be a problem. We got chairs in a great shaded spot around 11 am and swam until they closed the pool around 3 due to a storm. It never felt crowded. Sometimes there was no one waiting for the slide, and then other times maybe 10 kids lined up. But again, the pool did not feel crowded. We were also able to eat lunch at 12 at Captain Cooks, the line was short and we found a table outside with no problem.

We were there on the 2nd amd 3d weeks of June and is was not that bad. The volcano pool was busy in the afternoon (but do-able). Mornings and nights were very pleasent at the pool. Captain Cooks (which I don't care for) was not too bad either. It was hard to get into O'hana without a reservation and we never got close to Kona this year. I need to do a better job of planning next time...
