I want to make sure my daughter doesn't get seasick on our next cruise. Have you ever started taking Bonine (or your children) before the cruise started and have it NOT work for you?

Last year DH and I took Bonine, starting the day before the cruise, and we felt great the entire time, even hitting some rough seas on our way back from Bermuda (It was a Royal Caribbean cruise).

Just last month, DH, DSs (ages 16 and 13), and I took Bonine starting before our Disney Magic cruise and none of us felt seasick at all, including the day and night that we hit rough seas from Hurricane Frances. And we never felt unsteady or dizzy or had "sea legs" or whatever you call it when you get off the ship and feel like you're still on it. They give Bonine to people who have vertigo, and I think that's why it helps so much on a cruise.

Hope this helps :)

I think that this is your best option. It worked wonders for me and has even allowed me to ride spinning rides at the park again like the tea cups. I can do the coasters without it but feel nauseous even looking at them running if I don't take bonine.

It didn't work for me. I was TERRIBLY sick on our September 18th cruise when the waters were rough for 2 days with Hurricane Jeanne heading towards us. I finally (on the second day) decided to try the dramamine that I brought for the kids (since the Bonine said not to give to kids under 12) and I finally got some relief. I still didn't feel like eating but I was able to get up and go to the shows. With the Bonine I wasn't able to stand up without feeling sick.

So I would suggest taking two different meds in case you find one doesn't work for you.

NOW my DH did great with the Bonine and he went around taking pictures of the waves in the swimming pools. He never missed a meal either! So it does work, just not for everyone.
