My husband was at the airport today (not flying but he was doing some business there today) and he was at the boarding area at SW today and he heard them tell passengers that they were going to call last names for boarding. They did not have the A B C lines. Just curious.

SW calls by name when they're clearing standby customers. They also page by name, final call, pax that got their BP but didn't board prior to giving their seats to standby pax.

SW was experimenting with different boarding procedures but I thought that was in San Diego.

They did 3 weeks ago at BWI

LOL that was the airport he was at today. He must have been near that SW flight boarding when they were doing stand by then. He called me and said.."I think SW has changed their boarding procedures you might want to call". I didn't call because I knew I could find the answers right here. :thumbsup2

It may have been a ATA flight as well. Now that SW has partnerd up with them they might use some of SW's gates. They do have the standard seat by name boarding

Oh that is true too. Anyway....thanks for the info. We are flying SW on Jan. 25 so we wanted to make sure.

It was indeed limited to SAN. Aircraft turnaround time was fairly close to ABC boarding. I never felt it was a 'real' test as passengers were not allowed to choose their assigned seats, but tickets purchased together were assigned together. I doubt SWA will change its current boarding procedures.

Had the lines in Dec at Philly and Orlando. Hope they continue.
