Has DL ever NOT had an annual price increase?

For those of you with good memories. Were there price increases after 9/11? During the recession?

I'm not sure if this will help but another Disney site does have a list of historical Disneyworld prices and increases. I googled "historical disneyland price increases" and it was the 2nd option that came up. It does appear that after 2008 there was a price increase in 2009 of approx 4-5$ for a single day pass. I didn't delve into the prices more deeply than that.

On another note I think I will spend some time this afternoon Googling 2008 and 2009 promotional offers. It appears that there were some steep discounts offered as an incentive to entice people back to the parks... although i feel a bit guilty for doing so, like I'm taking advantage of or enjoyment from a horrible situation.

Report back please👍

I think discount tickets are likely but the price increase will likely still happen. For example, when Galaxy's Edge wasn't as popular as anticipated, they had the $99 park hopper for friends of Annual Passholders deal and a socal resident deal. When Hong Kong Disneyland's attendance dropped due to protests, they introduced the deal where Magic Access members could buy tickets for 200 HKD off for friends and family. Tokyo is the only resort I know of who does not increase the price each year and a couple years ago, they had a price decrease for Annual Passes.

I had APs from 2007 to 2013/14 (i forgot the exact year off the top of my head, but can go look at my records). Each year, prices raised. There was one year where they had a deal at Costco, where you could get the Deluxe AP + $50 Costco cash card for the same price as the Deluxe AP. So, that was neat.

Oh,. and I also had an AP in 2003-04. The price of the premium AP then was like $250? I remember it was cheap. This was also back when they didn't have park hoppers for DL and DCA and the company that I used to work for had their company party there, so we got tickets for $34 (well, each employee got 2 free tickets but if you had kids, you got for yourself + SO + kids)....I was able to get 10 tickets (my allotment and other employees who didn't end up going) DL wouldn't let us use more than 4 tickets to upgrade to an AP (even though they were unused and 4 of us were upgrading to APs) so I ended up selling the tickets for the cost that was printed ($34) to other people. I remember one couple that wanted to park hop bought 4 of the tickets and I told them to write which ticket they used to enter DL so they wouldn't try to use the same one to go inside DCA, lol.

The AP prices raised every year. I remember thinking one year when we got Deluxe that, wow, this was the price of the premium a couple of years ago...lol... I have no idea about the prices of single day tickets.

They didn't increase the price of the Sig and Sig+ from the time they were introduced (October 2015) to their first increase (February 2018). So no increase in 2017 for those passes. This was also when they ditched the renewal discount. Premier was also unaffected in terms of a price increase.

SoCal Select, SoCal, and Deluxe did receive a small increase in 2017, though.

So yes, they have relatively recently not raised prices on some annual passes... But then made it up in the following years by quite a large margin.

I know I saw a really good comprehensive list of the entire history, but I can't seem to find it anymore. I swear I remember it showing other no increase years, but quite some time ago. I'll keep searching.

I looked at this one earlier and it's fairly terrible honestly. I would not use this website at all as it has too many errors and missing information.

Several prices are missing or copy and pasted into the wrong sections (1990 prices in the 1993 section, for example), 2000-2002 (and 2005 and 2008) claims the Sig and Sig+ existed, and Premium's increase to $779 is missing from 2015 (which was the same year it was discontinued) along several errors.

Although I wish, according to that website, that the Premier was only $700 in 2016 :rotfl2: (it does say next to it it's the 2010 price, but it's listed in the 2016 section).

So to answer the OP, yes... So Cal AP did not go up 04-05, and all DLAP’s during the heart of the Great Recession 2011-2012 had flat pricing.

I miss the days of buying a one day ticket on a Saturday and upgrading to a so cal select pass for like $20 :(

They did go up in 2012. Just in May instead of January (which was a ticket increase I'm guessing? Or a WDW increase which would make sense since the Premier increased while the DLR only passes didn't).

June 2011: Premium increased to $499
January 2012: Premium stayed $499
May 2012: Premium increased to $649

The Premier had two increases in 2012. Went to $749 (from $700) January 2012 and $849 May 2012.

Edit: And 2010 had two increases for all DLR only passes. 2004 had two increases for Premium, Deluxe, and SoCal (but not SoCal Select?). Looks like no increases in 2003 for any of them (and no increases period?). 2001 same thing for Premium, no listed number at all so guessing no increase.

So yeah, zero increase years do happen. But so do double increase years and larger jumps in cost years :(. Hard to predict what will happen after the current crisis.

derp yep read that chart wrong, forgot about those double-in-a-year increases.

I’m thinking 04-08 and 09-12 had the smallest year-over-year magnitude of price changes (just me eyeballing it). Those were good times being an AP holder.

Also not considered here were the AP renewal promos, which were roughly $20-30/yr IIRC, which blunted the price increase.

Those went away long ago, but I swear I had a recent “13 months for 12” promo within the last 5 years. DISboards hive mind, help me remember this!

Haha! If it makes you feel better I reread it several times and then several more to make sure I wasn't being a jerk and correcting you wrong lol! It's a lot of information to look at. And gets more complicated when not all passes increased or increased at different times. Or multiple times!

And yeah, the renewal discount varied based on pass. Premium and eventually its equivalent replacement the Sig+ got a $60 discount. My January 2018 Sig+ renewal for $989 was suddenly $1399 in January 2019 :crazy2: . I wasn't going to be able to go back for at least nine months so needless to say I did not renew when that January 2019 increase happened (had been planning to). Picked my pass back up again when I went in December 2019.

And yes! There was a 13 month promo that started late 2016 and ran through most of 2017 (year long promo for renewals to get the extra month and there was a deadline to get it with a newly purchased pass... I think February 2017? I know there was a thread about it back then with the details). I even received it using a voucher (worth $779) for a Premium AP (expired 12/31/2016 and because Premium didn't exist anymore but the voucher was still valid, I was given a Sig+; did that for two years after Premium was discontinued) so got the extra month. I made out like a bandit on value for my 2016 and 2017 passes because of those vouchers.

My goodness, do you sleep??

Detailed analysis by you at any hour is always appreciated :flower1:

Sleep is for the week and those allergic to caffeine!

Also my sleep schedule is really really messed up LOL. I sleep during the day currently :cat:. Generally up all night.
