...done the Dolphin encounter for kids (4-8) in Puerta Vallarta?

If so, how was it and what exactly did the kids do? I'm trying to explain to my kids what they will get to do and I realized I'm not sure, LOL!

Thanks for any info.

My 8 year old did the Dolphin Encounter for kids. My mother took him on the excursion so I don't have all the details. He had a great time and said that it was his favorite excursion of the trip (we also did Randi's Happy Horses & a trip to the Melia hotel).

We worked on his Dolphin scrapbook page yesterday so he described his trip for me. There were three dolphins in the tank, including 1 baby dolphin. He learned how to give the dolphins signs to make them do tricks, he danced with the dolphins, & even got a kiss on the cheek. He said that they played with the dolphins and his favorite thing was feeding the dolphins.

What a great scrapbook page! Absolutely perfect!

My DD, 5, did it on the first Mexican cruise while we did the swim. They are in a smaller pool w/a very shallow platform that the kids are on. A momma dolphin and baby dolphin were in the pool w/them as well as one more dolphin (kids could not touch baby, he was just there to be w/his momma). DD learned about the dolphins, got to do the kiss (photo op for them) and also got to sit on the dolphin because of how small she is (smaller ones sat on dolphin's back, larger kids danced w/her). They were done in about half the time we were and then she was escorted over to our pool to watch the rest of our swim (she was not allowed in the water w/us at all...she and one other little girl her age had parents in the large pool...they sat and watched together but could not even put their feet into our pool as our trainers asked them not to do that for fear of them falling into the deeper water.

Overall, it was a really nice excursion for the kids...perfect for the 5 year old crowd!

Thanks for the reviews!!! My kids are 5 and 8 so those perspectives were perfect.

At first they werent too exciteed about it, but I know they would enjoy it if they did it so I booked it. After just reading these descriptions and showing them the pictures (great pics BTW, CruisingCA2005), they both seemed really excited. Even my 5yo who kept saying he didnt want to do it was rubbing it in to his brother that he can sit on the dolphin. :teeth:

Thanks for the compliments on my scrapbook page. I just started "scrapping" digitally on Sunday after seeing MousseauMob's digital pages. DS picked out all the "papers" himself.

I was pretty disappointed at the quality of the pictures from the Dolphin Adventure. The photographer take the pictures & you purchase them. The pictures came out with a blue tinge and were very pixelated (must have been a bad printer). I had to do some tweaking with the color on Photoshop. If you have a good camera with a powerful zoom, I'd try to snap pictures yourself. Unfortunately DM didn't take ANY pictures on the excursion.

I made DS wear his rash guard (sunblock shirt) because they can't wear any sunscreen in the water because it irritates the dolphins. It was a hot & humid day in Puerto Vallarta.

CamColt: I'm sure your kids will have a great time!
