Has anyone who booked DCL with points ever received an upgrade?

Noticing alot of people are getting free upgrades on the Cruise Forum. Have any DVC members that have booked cruises with points ever received a free upgrade?

Not we3. Actually we called about that and they said they do not upgrade DVC members booking with points

Truly out of the thousands and thousands of passengers sailing each week on Disney cruises, the free upgrades are very few and far between.

There have been a couple of posts on the Cruise Board this week with people who have been upgraded on some September cruises. September is traditionally a slower cruise month due to Hurricane season, kids back to school and this year, the anniversary of 9/11. So it is not surprising they may have some latitude to do some upgrades then.

Booking on DVC points, booking with DCL directly, or booking with a travel agent truly has no bearing on these upgrades being assigned. I know people who have had them occur with all of the above.

I always advise booking the category you will be comfortable with for your cruise. Chances are that will be the stateroom you end up cruising in.

Although it does happen rarely, it seems as though DVC members do not get upgrades at any DVC resort or the DCL when booking with points. I know of several people who have gotten free upgrades at DVC resorts when they paid cash and were not members. Yet this is almost unheard of for a member. I do not think this is right, if members can not get an upgrade then non members who are paying cash should certainly not get upgrades either.
