I have two Pier One gift cards and a Body Works that I am not going to ever use.. I saw on the Fox News this morning that there are sites where you can trade them in for money. I know you don't get full value, but I wanted to know if anyone has tried them? Thanks...

Some years back, I sold 2 to Monster Gift Card. I had a $25 Marshalls and $10 Starbucks and got about $30 total.

As someone who has BOUGHT from those sites, I can tell you that I am MUCH more likely to buy from a site (which guarantees its cards are good) than from an individual on Ebay. If you sell me a bad/stolen card on Ebay, I have less recourse than from one of the sites, which guarantee their cards will work. In order for me to risk buying from you on Ebay, the discount to me would have to be MUCH better than what I can get from the sites... which is unlikely because you can probably get more from the sites than I am willing to pay on Ebay. :) Just a thought.

I received an email from Paypal advertising plasticjungle.com as a place to get rid of unwanted gift cards. I didn't read too much but I believe you get 80% of the value back. I trust paypal's endorsement plus I know people from another message board had no problems using this sight.

A friend of mine used cardcash.com to sell a few gift cards with good luck. You can get cash (direct deposit or paypal) or trade for a different gift card. You get more if you trade but the cash value for hers was about 85%

There's another thread on here that talks about Cardpool

There is one site that lists most of them so you an see what your gift cards would be worth in different sites. I have both sold and bought on a few sites and I do not recommend selling or buying them on Ebay - too many scams involving gift cards.

Some cards have a pin number that is usually hidden and you have to scratch off to see - do not enter this number on any site. Some will ask you to do this to get how much the card has in it. The one time I did this it was stolen. I had no idea until I went to the online store (it was Victoria's Secret) and decided to keep the card and get some stuff. When I went to check out it said the card was empty. I was able to call them and get a new card since the thief used my card to buy another gift card which they were able to cancel - it was a PITA to clear up :furious:

Anyway, here is the site that lets you compare sites ;)

i have also sold to cardpool twice with no problems. have also bought from them, great deals! we buy petco gc for our dog food saves an extra 16% and they usually have jcpennys for a good percentage off. i would recomend them. also go to giftcardgranny to compare rates.

Thanks..will check that out too. :)

WOW really? Never thought of that. Do you do an auction? Do you get close to the full value? Thanks

I did it with a petco card. It had $200 on it from a store credit(Return) and I got near $175 for it.

I buy a lot of restaurant gift cards from these sites. No problems. I use plastic jungle, cardpool, giftcards.com and giftcardrescue.
