taken their cruise photo's to a local place to be reprinted after they got home. If so, where did you go, was it a hassle?

Thanks for the help.

Cheryl

It was very easy. I printed off the waiver from their internet site. I then took it with the pictures to CVS Pharmacy (Walgreens type store) to the Kodak Picture maker. They asked to see the release, and even photocopied it, but then I made my pictures. No problems at all! I also took some to Walmart and did the same thing. No problems there either.

It is a much cheaper option than buying copies on the ship. I paid about $6 for 8x10's and the same for 2 5x7 for the grandparents, and even made wallets of my favorite shot of my boys!

Where do I get this waiver? Sounds like a great idea! I just used the machine at Walmart this weekend on some of my photos and it was soooooo easy!:hyper:

Kelli,

Thank you so much...I appreciate the help. We got the nicest picture of hubby and I on formal night and my family has really been bugging us for and updated pic for their frames. This will make it so easy.

AUNTIE....the form is on the castawayclub website...top of the main page I believe...just click and print.

After our first cruise I was told you really didn't need a waiver because Shutters doesn't keep the negatives. I went to our local Wal-Mart and used the Kodak Picture Maker to make wallet prints of a couple of our formal pictures and had no problem.

I have used CVS and Target for copies of Shutters pictures. Both places required I show waiver, as it is illegal to copy proffessional photos without. Some stores you can use the copy machine w/o assistance, but ours require a pin number from store employee.

Thanks for the link! I printed it out and now it is in my cruise file, along with my other itd bits of info that I have got off this board!!:teeth:

It is just too easy not to get the release. I just took some in and made a wide range of copies this past weekend at Sam's Club (if you're a member or know someone that is the price is great! $4.46 an 8 x 10 sheet). The clerk made a copy and gave me a little card to fill out for the file.

There have been too many lawsuits in recent years for stores to risk this.

In fact, funny story, I now carry a waiver for my own work! Most of the policies say they won't let you copy work that "appears to have been taken by a professional even if it is devoid of markings". Last spring I took some prints of some cast pictures I'd taken in to do enlargements. I wanted some special cropping and didn't trust my local developer to get it just right. Ok, ok I know.

Anyway, I had one tough time getting those 8 x 10s out of the clerk's hands! She was ready to tear them up. Said they couldn't possibly have been taken by an amateur because of the camera angle. Well I DID take them and I did have access to that particular angle because I was the costumer on the show! After much hassle I got my prints and my son made up a waiver on the computer for me. He patterned it after the Images waiver. And I have had to show it a couple of times. I get some good shots because I take a LOT of pictures and some just have to turn out well based on simple odds. But they are certainly not professional quality in my opinion.

So just to repeat - get the waiver - skip the hassle.

Do you have to send a copy of the waiver signed to DCL, or pay for it. Or does DCL automatically let you make copies and you just need the waiver for the stores purpose, so they reprint them?

Thanks
Joanna

The contract photographer is Images. And they along with they cruise lines they have contracts with (most of them!) want those photos out there for everyone to see. The waiver is to keep the store from being sued.
