has anyone used the nextel phones in the parks??

We have the ones that you can use as walkie talkies as well as phones, does anyone else have these and if so how well do they work at the campground and parks?? thanks

DH and I were at FW earlier this week. One day he had a seminar at the Peabody and I visited MK and MGM alone. When he got back to the cabin that afternoon, he just used his nextel 2-way and called me. It worked as well as if we were at home. Very clear reception. We even used it once to 2-way our niece back here in Alabama!!!!! It was so cool. Hope you have the same good luck!

We were in the MK and EPCOT in early July and the Nextels worked just fine. My understanding from Nextel is that the Nationwide direct connect was free until August 1. After August 1, you can pay $10/month for unlimited nationwide direct connect or ten cents a minute (charged to whoever initiates the DirectConnect). You might want to check with your Nextel rep to be sure....

I live in Salisbury. DH and I were thinking about Nextel - but we are not sure of the coverage here on the shore. Do you have any coverage problems in the all of Delmarva area?

We live in Ocean Pines, so far the only dead areas we have encountered is where are kids go to school at Wor Prep in Berlin. Some places in line you get no service, other places okay. Also we have used them in Baltimore and Annapolis without any difficulty. Reception was crystal clear. We also experienced some dead space around the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel,. We used them in Busch Gardens in Williamsburg with no problems too. We've had ours since October'02. Basically very pleased. Can't wait to try them in Disney!! I'll let you know how they work there when we get back on Aug 24.
