Has anyone used points AND cash for cruise??

We used points for our last cruise and it all worked out well.
We are curious about how it works when you are using points for some people and cash for others.
Do you have to book the cruise through Disney?
Any ideas, experiences, or suggestions would be helpful!

We booked using points for 2 adults and 1 child and paid cash for the other child. You do have to make the reservation through MS. You also have to pay the cash at the time of booking.

Just a little more info. You must have atleast enough points for one memeber, the rest can be paid by cash. The cash portion must be paid in full at the time of the booking thru credit card. Also, if you book a category 9 you can not upgrade on the boat, you are locked in when you use points. Personaly I think the points are on the high side and most people i've seen sell their points and use the cash for the cruise. I'm not sure which way is the best.
