Has anyone used PODS for short term storage?

We have sold our home and are buying a new home that is being built. I've heard that PODS is a smart idea because you load the unit at your old house, they store it for you and deliver it to the new one when you are ready. We're going to be in between houses for about 6 weeks. We'll be traveling and visiting relatives--it'll be an adventure!
Anyway, any experience with PODS out there?
Thanks!
Jill

My sister in law did it for a year and loved it. If you have specific questions I can ask her. She just unloaded it on Sunday. Recieved it the week before.

I see a lot of them around town. I checked nto them a year ago when I moved and found them to be a bit pricey. If it's worth it to you try it. I had a much cheaper alternative so I used it.

My SIL in Missouri used them when she was moving and she liked it. She said it was quite convenient. She actually packed stuff into it when her hosue went on the market to make it look less cluttered(she likes a lot of knicks-knacks and pictures and stuff on the walls), and therefore bigger.

Also, be ruthless about throwing stuff away BEFORE you move. Why move it, then throw it away when you get to the new house?

It is a little more expensive than just renting storage space, but you also don't have to hassle with a moving truck. The convenience factor is big, too.
I'm glad to head that others have had good experiences--thanks!
Anyone else? I guess I really want the good, the bad, and the ugly(if there's any out there....)
Thanks!

Just wanted to say hi, Jill. :wave2: I have to grab these opportunities when and where I can with you and Dave, LOL. BTW, tell him he has an old (couple weeks) PM from me. :)

School out for either/both of you yet? Good luck on the move and new home.

Dan

Hey Dan!
We're in school until the 26th, in the World June 7-15th and moving around July 21st! What a summer! Wish we could catch up with you, but I think our trip dates just miss each other this year......
I'll let Dave know about the PMs:rolleyes:

Talk to you soon!
