Has anyone used one of these "super ponchos"? Covers you and scooter.

Just looking at stuff on amazon and saw this....

After the pouring rain we had, I'm looking for a better solution. It's a rain poncho that covers you and scooter. Might be a little bulky but looks easier than trying to use several ponchos to cover everything.

Yes, I'm planning already for next trip.

I thought that *someone* around here had tried one with good results? Was that our buddy Ray?

It's the same idea as throwing the front of your Disney poncho over the controls, and the back over the seat back... but it will probably fit better, and keep the sides drier too!

I might consider ordering that a bit early - if it's that "stinky" vinyl, it will give you a chance to air it out before you take it on the trip! And don't forget to pack a few clothes pins so that you can hang it to drip dry in the shower (on the clothesline) at the Resort hotel!

Good idea.

This last trip, DH had one good one on him, a cheap over the seat back and a cheap one over the controls and stuff in basket. We were told about keeping the controls dry, but dh was worry about the rest of the scooter too.

I miss Ray. His posts were always so helpful with lots of details. I hope he is well.

I have been using it for some time with total happiness! I do put a throwaway one ON the scooter seat (I usually put my heat up hoodie on the seat and want that protected) that I can remove when I sit.. and a separate one on me. I never had a problem with it remaining wet - once the rain stopped I did bunch it up and put it in the scooter basket.. but once I got to my room I hung it up on the shower line in the tub.

We bought that exact scooter ponchos after returning from our last trip. After riding Spaceship Earth the scooter wouldn't start! Controls were covered all the time with the rain protector provided by the company but moisture still got in! I will now uncover the controls anytime we go inside so moisture evaporates.

If the company is providing the "shower cap" type of protector for the controls, it can be tough to keep the elastic in place on some of the scooters; I think they are using a universal shower cap, rather than something that is sized properly and made specifically for that tiller/that model.

I also think that you may be right - sometimes it just gets so wet and humid that things just need a chance to dry out! Luckily, it usually doesn't rain all day (except during hurricanes); I think it's a very solid idea to uncover the controls indoors, and obviously overnight when charging the battery in your hotel room as well.

This is why they are actually shifting away from shower caps to trash bags sized for about the size of trash cans found in medical offices. I believe they are getting rid of their current stock of shower caps first though. They found the bags for better and had fewer issues. My rental came with the trash bags and not shower caps on our last trip and they did work well.

That being said, DH found some shower caps on Amazon that fit quite well on the Victory 10.2 and the shower caps still work well as a cover for the basket, just line the basket with a bag first and with the shower cap it becomes virtually water proof.

Adding additional thought: Another benefit of the "super poncho" for the ECV is the see thru plastic that is over the control panel - On my personal scooter - the speed indicator hasn't been glued on for a very long time - so I need to make sure I'm at the right speed by turning the dial and being able to see it is great... and using a rental scooter it's even better because I'm not as familiar.
