Has anyone tried the Nutri-system diet?

DH has suggested we try it b/c we really have about zero discipline. At first I was totally disinterested b/c I'm a picky eater, but I saw on their website you can pick your foods so that part is taken care of somewhat.

So, has anyone tried their program and want to share their expericence? What about transitioning off of it at goal. I am concerned about just gaining weight back.

Thanks!

Not to be discouraging, but my mom is finishing her first (and last) month of Nutri-system. She lost 5 lbs in a month, but just can't justify the expense. It's about $300/month just for HER food (first month is cheaper because you get a discount), and that doesn't include things like eggs, milk, and other perishable items. She also said the food isn't all that good. She did better on Weight Watchers, and didn't have all the expense. She also was concerned that this was just "forcing" her into a healthy lifestyle, vs. teaching her to choose one herself.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

My DP lost 40 lbs in 3 months on Weight Watchers. It's super easy to follow and if you watch what is in your food you can still have some good junkfood :thumbsup2

A good friend of mine lost 40 pounds with Nutri-system. When she decided it was too expensive to continue she gained the weight plus a bit more back in a very short amount of time. She lost fast but she gained back even quicker.

I agree with the above posters, I just don't think the expense is worth it. WW is a wonderful program and gives you some choices. You can eat anything as long as you stay within your points. Diet Center is also excellent depending on your Coach and less expensive than Nurtrasystem.

Hmm Basically what I feared. I have not had good luck with WW just b/c I become *so* obsessed with food on that program. I think I am going to try using sparkpeople to help me count calories.

I lost a lot of weight on nutri-system. But it was expensive (300$ or so) for really small amounts of food. I got so tired of it that I just couldnt make myself eat it anymore. It took me about 6 months to gain almost all of it back. Talk about discouraging!

The food is not good and what they don't tell you is that their "plans" also include your purchasing additional fruit, salad greens, vegies, etc from the grocery store. Way too expensive!

My next door neighbor tried this and didn't like it at all. She gave me some of the food to try--yuck! Even my teenaged nephews wouldn't eat it (and they didn't know what it was) and they will eat ANYTHING!:rotfl: :rotfl:

I saw the portions for Nutri-system and I don't see how you could be successful. I personally would starve and then binge.

Fifteen years ago, I lost over 100 pounds on Nutrisystem. I actually kept it off for about 4 years. Ended up gaining it back and more-(2 babies and life has a way of doing that to you). I've been on WW now for 10 months. Have lost an incredible amount of weight, and feel like I'm learning how to live with food. Have you thought about trying core?? You don't have to count the points and many people have had great success with that plan. Best of luck in whatever you choose!!:)
