My wife and I are thinking about trying the tequila bar in the Mexico Pavilion. Any feedback? (how long is the wait, are the drinks/food good, over all impression)

All the visitors to La Cava that I have read on this board say that the drinks are good. The two times we were in the Mexico Pavilion, we noticed that the line was out the door for La Cava. That makes it not worth it for us. If there was no line, I am sure we would enjoy stopping in. :)

It is a regular stop for us (sometimes don't make it past Mexico when I go to Epcot :lmao:) The tostadas are really good and the drinks are very good.

We don't have issues getting in there, but then we don't try to go around dinner. We may go first thing for lunch or in the afternoon between lunch/dinner.

I had the rainbow tequila frozen Margarita from La Cava. The first half was pretty good, but the second half was so salty I couldn't drink it. The kid that made it for me asked if I wanted the rim salted, I assume he spilled some in the cup and did not clean it up. My advise, try the margarita minus the salt, or get the one of the frozen grey goose drinks from the French pavilion.

It's amazing! We went there on the first day of our last trip and it was quickly followed by a second and third trip. We had no trouble getting a table and those were on days with crowd levels of 8 and 9.

The food was okay but that's not really why you're going to a tequilia bar. The margaritas were awesome. We tried all but one or two of the basic ones on the menu. Our favorites were the jalapeno, cucumber and avocado... and I don't like avocado and cucumber. Try them...

You can get them to go as you walk around WS as well. Enjoy and have one for me!

I don't think this was from La Cava - the margaritas outside are nothing like the hand-mixed specialty margaritas inside La Cava - in flavors like Blood Orange and Avacado with rose infused salt rims..:cloud9:

They are amazing. The food is very much like tapas - not really a meal, but the drinks are lovely. We did the tequila seminar at F&W and it was very interesting - they have very high-end tequilas in La Cava.

:thumbsup2 Oooh so good!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Of the ones I tried last year, I liked the classic best but can't wait to go back and try more.

they are a bit on the pricy side (a year ago they were 12.50 each, that may have changed) but they are really premium and worth every penny. I will never be tempted by the premade frozen ones outside knowing these are waiting just inside

It's a bit pricey, but what isnt in Disney World :-P They have some very good tequilla.

Dh gave it two thumbs up when he visited... Or maybe it was one thumb with double vision... :lmao: Seriously, he loves that place, still talks about it. He was in rough shape when he left. :rolleyes1

I was thinking about making a quick stop in La Cava during my solo birthday trip (also during F&W) this year... do you think I'd be uncomfortable there, alone?

On our last trip, we saw a woman send back the first margarita and then throw out the second because they were both "too strong". Naturally, we thought she was insane, because "too strong" to us is a synonym for "good bargain" :)

My wife loves that place. She hits it every trip.

I dont think you'd feel uncomfortable. It's a small bar and it's inside the Mexico pavillion...I'd say go for it!

Not if you talk to everyone who comes in like you know them.

HAHA. I swear it's like you know me!
no really... doesn't tequila make everyone act like they know everyone? :goodvibes

This is a must now for every trip. We went in Feb and had a sensational time. It was not busy, was the middle of the afternoon. We had the 3 chicken tostadas (pic below) and they were SO GOOD!!! But expensive. $9 for the 3 little rounds but still very very good.

I had the Cucumber margarita (pic below as well) and it was fabulous!! Yes it is potent, as all their drinks are. They are NOT like the margaritas you get outside. This tequila bar has every kind of tequila you could want. Some shots are $60 per shot!! But if you are a tequila drinker it is a must to try at least a few out.

Again, they are potent, so be prepared. Tequila is my alcohol of choice when partaking of a alcohol beverage so they are not new to me. But this one margarita put me on alert to not leave my husband's side...LOL Got lost going to the door!! :lmao: Had to text him to come get me. And at home I can easily handle more than a few before I "am on my butt".

Hope you enjoy the pics.

NOTE: The bar has 30-seats and always seems crowded.
They have 87 brands of tequila, with many at $9-$25/shot,
and most about $12/shot. That is pretty pricey, even for
DisneyWorld, let alone "the good stuff" at over $75/shot.
Get a 3-shot "flight" for $18, with each shot at 1/2-oz.
By the way, if you have heard of the brand (eg. Cuervo,
Patron, etc) it is usually not the best. The highest rated
tequilas don't do the marketing that the mass brands do.

I think you are referring to the margaritas served outside the Mexico pavillion? If so, the drinks served in the tequilla bar are totally different. I hate the ones served outside.

While waiting for our ADR at La Hacendia in Nov we stopped by to grab a drink. Not sure what the name was but it was the glow in the dark one...And seriously it was one of the best drinks I have ever had. We didn't try the food but La Hacendia has great food and we had an awesome view of the fireworks! It is now a must do on any future trip!

Since they have opened, my DH and I have always made this our first stop in EPCOT.

The food is tapas, as everyone has said, so it is more of a snack-type size, and somewhat pricey, but with good flavor, IMO. We usually eat something small here.

Now, for the good stuff....

I have had the Tequila Flight. It was so very good, as they described the flight shot by shot, and had a few chasers of different styles. You need to hit that at lunch time though, or in the evening when you get close to closing time. That's a doooooooozy!

I have had the Scorpion tequila, as a birthday shot, with a chaser of cheviche that was spicy and tangy and sweet. (That birthday button paid off that day! :cake: )

We love the pineapple (sweet), the blood orange (tart but sweet), the jalapeno (so flavorful-not hot just a hint of spice), but my favorite is the cucumber margarita. It is so smooth and tasty.

I have also done the margarita flight- I shared that with my DH. It was 5 margaritas, but enough in each that was 2 shots worth. DIVINE in my opinion.
However, as the voice of reason and experience- water, water, water.

It is a nice cool "cave" of happiness- I love tequila. And then I love everybody when I drink it.:lovestruc:love::hug:

I love it! I have only gone once and didn't have any food but it wasn't busy when I went in July (just walked up to the bar and ordered a drink). I had a "fruta de la pasion" (passionfruit) margarita and it was one of the best drinks I have ever had. I definitely will be going during my next trip.
