Has anyone toured the parks wearing an active/functional masks like football coaches wear?

I love that mask because even though it has a super duper filtering nano particle layer, it is more breathable than most. BUT...the outside layer has a micro mesh look to it.

I know that the disposible paper masks actually state on the box it does NOT protect against covid, but this one filters down to 1 micron (covid is .06-1.4 microns) so essentially this mask is actually effective. it just looks a little 'meshy' on the outside and you can't see that inside nano particle layer. And wdw says not mesh.

So...has anyone worn one of these in wdw?

We have friends there right now that took those style of masks. I’m curious to hear about their experience!!!

YES, please do find out and post back on here. It's an actual mask that filters out small particles but it so much more tolerable.

will do! They have the Schema masks that a lot of the NFL coaches use. They love them but I’ve wondered how a Disney would react to the mesh look.

I'm pretty sure that as long as skin is not visible through the mask, it is allowed. They just don't want to see crocheted masks and things like that.

We had one that had mesh on the outside, double layered with a filter and they would not let us wear them. You couldn’t see through it or anything. They said no mesh of any kind. Maybe bring a back up in case they say no? I know you aren’t the OP. Sorry, I hit reply to yours... 😊

Can you just turn it around and use it with the mesh on the inside?

Yes we could but we had already been turned away at that point so we didn’t want to turn them around and come right back. We stayed at Fort Wilderness and took the boat over so there was only one person doing the checking. We always bring a couple of masks so we just went back to the cabin and changed them out. We know that CM already have it hard enough, so we went with the rules.

No, these do not. It's a functional mask that is breathable but has a special nano particle filter inside that filters down to 1 micron. The outside is a tight mesh looking weave and the inside is the filter. There are no holes but it gives the 'appearance' of mesh. What's funny is that they allow the one use mask that on the boxes even state they do not protect against covid when this one actually might.

I saw people turned away at DS with these masks last week. No mesh is allowed. They likely do not want to make cast members have to distinguish between this type and totally nonfunctional crochet/mesh masks. They directed the group wearing them to the mask vending machine if they wanted to enter DS.

Would this be considered "mesh" by Disney? They are our standard masks - 3 ply with an added filter. If yes, I've got a problem and need to order some new masks fast.

Hi Kathi, from our experience I would say they probably would think those are mesh. This is what ours looked like when they turned us around. Again, I can only go off our experience but it might be worth it to at least bring a spare in case they don’t allow it.

Thanks - I agree, ours looks more meshie than yours. I'll order some new ones that take a filter. My daughter has a set she likes by the same company as the "mesh" ones, so I'll just get those. So glad the OP asked the question!

So our friends got back yesterday and several in their party were told they were not allowed. One of the people in their party had the black version, which I guess is more difficult to tell it is mesh and didn't have a problem wearing it. I think her husband has the grey one which definitely looks like mesh!

Okay good to know! If we end up going, we'll bring the black one.

I know that its up to CM discretion. If you're wearing a mask that walks the line of the rules, it would be best to bring a back-up in case you're asked to remove it. You may be stopped one day, but have no problem the next.

Can you wear a paper mask under it then they will allow it? I am looking at the Under Armor ones that are "sport" masks too.
I want something that might be a little more breathable for summer and one I can exercise in. I do usually carry extras as well.

Which Under Armor are you looking at? These are the ones we use and have not had an issue. We saw lots of people in the parks with them so we were hoping they were good. I’ve been half a dozen times to different parks and have had no issue.
