Has anyone taken a Turner Classic Movie Cruise?

I looked into the Turner Classic Movie cruise the first year it was held on DCL and the timing wasn't good for us. Last year, my husband actually said he would go after it was sold out. I am thinking about it for a future cruise.

If you've taken the cruise, how did you like it compared to other cruises? It is basically a regular Disney cruise with old movies and speakers who were involved in the making of the old movies?

i didn't go. But I looked it up it saids most Disney activities will be suspended during the tcm cruise.google turner Classic movies Disney cruiseline. THEY MAKE IT CLEAR THIS IS A TCM CLASSIC CRUISE NOT A DISNEY CRUISE.

Bumping this. I did find a TCM cruise forum and posted there also, but that seems pretty dead.

We have been on all five TCM cruises three of which have been on the Magic. 2016 will be a week on the a Fantasy. Very little Disney excrpt in the dinng rooms. The characters only appear in the clubs if there are children. There are often Disnry movies if they tie into the sctors onboard or the theme. It's s wonderful experience.

My husband and I went on the TCM Cruise in 2014. It was great! Definitely not a Disney Cruise that you usually think of and not a lot of families - the crowd was older, but all the perks and services of Disney. There were no Disney shows - only TCM Movies and talks by the actors/actresses on the ship. They did have one or two short presentations that featured Disney cartooning. We are looking forward to the 7-day cruise this year.

I've been checking their website every couple weeks, looking for an announcement. I know they sell out quickly. I'm mentally planning on booking it, but it will come down the prices.

I've been looking too! Hoping since we've been on a TCM cruise in the past we will get advance notice - but haven't seen anywhere to sign up yet. It is more expensive than a regular Disney Cruise - and will probably be higher this year than in the past since they are planning a 7-day cruise versus 4-day. I did see that they are going to be on the Fantasy instead of the Magic. Dates are November 12-19, 2016.

I have been considering this cruise as well. Do you know if you still get the castaway level perks on these cruises? We will be platinum and wondered if we would still get our free Palo meal and concierge check in privileges? I have never been on a chartered cruise and don't know if they work differently. Thanks :)

I have not yet done a TCM cruise but hope to. I am Platinum and can see no reason why you would not be able to do the Platinum/Concierge check-in and boarding (as it spreads out the people in the terminal), but I would be very surprised if there were any other Platinum perks, since it is officially a charter and not a normal DCL cruise. Has any Platinum here sailed on a TCM cruise?

I have read from Platinum members that they do get their DCL Platinum benefits. I don't know if they have the special party, but they did get their usual gifts and Palo meal.

If you are a lowly level like me, you'll get the cruise counted towards your next level of castaway membership and whatever stateroom gift you would normally get as a Silver or Gold.

Oh, that's great then! I was told by DCL (many years agoi) that when the entire ship is chartered by a non-Disney company, that was not the case, and even that such cruises did not "count." It's good to hear that is not the case though, and especially that the levels benefits will still apply.
