If so, where did you stay?

We are driving down and would love a place to stay here.. thanks

When not staying in the city we stay across the Cooper River in Mt. Pleasant at the Hampton Inn. They have a nice pool and it is a short drive into Charleston (acroos bridge to Meeting St.) and also close to great eating on Shem Creek and Sullivans Island (10 minutes).
Enjoy my state while you are here.

There is also a nice Hampton Inn accross from the Visitor Center near downtown. Charleston is a lovely city and we really enjoyed our 2 visits there. If you have time, take a carriage tour through the city. It is fascinating. Also, the homes along South Broad are incredibly beautiful. The South Carolina Aquarium is also a nice place to visit.

Thanks both ...

We are driving from NY and planned on stopping in Charleston on our way down ... we wanted to go to the Holiday Lights in the park - planning on staying 1 night - was unsure where the best place was to not be off the beaten path of 95, lol.

Don't want to go too out of our way..

Keep in mind that Charleston is approximately 70 miles from I-95 (via I-26.) When leaving Charleston you might want to consider taking Highway 17 south to I-95.

Exit 95 onto I-26 East. It deadends on Meeting St. in Charleston where all of the tourist sites are located as well as the Hampton Inn the other poster mentioned. There is a Holiday Inn right there as well. The lights you mention are on James island which is just down 17 from the heart of Charleston.
Have a great trip.
