We are staying here in June for 2 weeks and just wondered what it was like. Nice place? It says it is a gated community which is a plus for us for the added security. Anyone know the distance to Disney World from here? Easy access? We have stayed in Emerald Island in the past and loved it, so this is a new place for us. Any info or tips much appreciated TIA :goodvibes

We rented a home there before we bought our home. The neighborhood is very nice. The access to Disney is very easy just like when you were at Emerald Island. Its about 5 miles from the parks the back way using Sherberth rd.

Just as close as emerald island I have stayed at both. You will have a great time.

I read the post about the water treatment plant next to Windsor Palms. Is this really a big issue there with the smell? I really don't want to cancel. We have a great house (pet friendly) which was very important and a little hard to find, plus the owners are wonderful. I guess i'm stressing for nothing.

Anyways thanks for the replies :goodvibes

Have you considered Windsor Hills - same builder as Windsor Palms and newer, with a great beach pool and water slide that the kids will love.

We own in Indian Creek right next door to Windsor Palms I can say I have not smelled anything from the water plant. If you have found a great home and owners you like that allow pets too I say stick with them. Pet friendly homes are hard to find. Most of all have a GREAT VACATION!!

Personally, when you are spending this kind of money, I would ask for referrals from guests who have stayed in their house. WHile I am sure not all of them face the treatment plant, I have heard many complain. Indian Creek is quite a distance from the plant vs. Windsor Palms (look on google earth). It is worth investigating - also might be why you got such a good rate??

The location of where we are staying is supposed to be up close to the clubhouse(walking distance). In the other thread she mentioned she was in the back of the resort, so hopefully I will get lucky. I don't really call $1800 for two weeks a great rate, I've done a lot better. But this time I opt for an upgraded house versus last year we stayed in a non-gated community. It wasn't THAT bad but there was no comparison after staying for the previous years in Emerald Island. We LOVE emerald island. But I couldn't find anything pet friendly less than 5 bedrooms this year. We aren't taking as many with us and didn't need so much room. We stayed for ten days last year in a 4 bedroom home for $650 total, but like I said we opt for better this year.

Windsor Hills is also a beautiful community. I would have loved to stay there, but its hard to find pet friendly homes and I feel we really lucked up here. The owner is really nice and responsive, the home is beautiful. I guess we will just deal with whatever happens-happens in regards to the smell;)

Thanks for everyone's opinions and comments about the resort. I am so excited I just wish June would get here a little faster!

We will be there in June also, 1-11th. This will be the second time we have stayed at Windsor Palms. We have a 4/3 and it is to the left when you enter the neighborhood
