I think we finally decided on the Pop Century.
We are planning on going in January and this is our first time. :cheer2:
Has anyone stayed at the Pop and how did you like it.
Any advice?

Thanks

We will be staying there in 26 days. I'll let you know when we get back how we liked it. So far all I am hearing from people is that it is very nice for a value resort and very much for families (ie. noise etc.) Hope you aren't looking for a quiet and peaceful stay. LOL but it is disney and kids do get excited now and again :rotfl: Heck with the kids I am doing a happy dance every morn when I look at my countdown ticker!!!!!

We stayed at the Pop Century a year ago and we are staying there again in the spring. We really enjoyed our stay there! The pools are great and the food court is huge! :goodvibes

My DM(TigerCat) and I stayed there with the rest of our gang in January. We all enjoyed the stay. We have also stayed at the ASMovies and the Poly.
I would stay at POP again.

We stayed there last October. We loved it. We didn't find it noisy, liked the food court, and I always think those huge icons are so cute.

Hi! We did the All Stars last year and POP this year! Both were great! But I think POP has some real advantages! Their own bus, a bigger gift store - we liked the food court better! The pools were super! We'd chose POP again!
Have fun planning! :sunny:

Absolutely a fantastic resort. It is the busiest and because of that, has the most busses (best organized too). Don't fret when you see long (really long) line ups for the bus. I was amazed to see that if a line is too long to get everyone on the bus, the driver radios dispatch and another one shows up in minutes. I have never experienced that at other resorts.

Food court is good with great variety. Pools are very nice and the colours enticing. It doesn't matter where they locate you as the walk to food/bus/pool is never very far away, and the rooms that are the farthest have the best view of Epcot's Ilumminations Fireworks.

We just returned from 14 days at the POP in May and are staying another 9 nights starting October 18. Will be returning again in Jan '06.

As with all value resorts, rooms are small, however, most families don't spend too much time in the room.

We will be staying at POP for the first time Dec 31 - Jan 8 and I had a food court ?

Please tell me about the area where they show disney movies in the food court. Is it tucked out of the way and a little quieter then the rest of the food court? Is there just one large screen showing disney movies or more then one screen?
We stayed at ASMo last year and the tv there was definately in the most out of the way part of the food court (and therefore not as noisy as the rest of the food court).
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Suzy V.
I am getting so excited. Tomorrow I get to make ADRs

We stayed at Pop the last two years and will probably be staying there again this year! We loved it! :cool1: It has a great family atmosphere, the food court was good, and the pools/grounds are fun. We found our room to be clean and quiet, although it was very busy while we were there. The buses are quick and there are lots of them! I'm not sure about the movies playing in the food court--I did notice them but I can't recall the location. You will have a blast!

I am only trying to recall where the screen was as our goal was to get in and get out as fast as possible. I think they are located towards the doors, each against the wall. As for quiet, I don't think there is such a spot in the POP food court unless you are there at 6AM (which I haven't been).

You'll Love It!

Any resort on property has it's own merits! Pop is fun due to the different decades!

As far as I'm concerned.........It's better to be at WDW than dealing with reality!

Enjoy!

Thanks for all the postive comments.
I am getting so excited. Im going to be booking this week and i have given up on hoping for a quiet stay unless i want to pay for it.
Heck, we will hardly be in our room anyways.
Going off topic here, but how does the monorail system work.
I thought it went right to the hotels. I guess im clueless>

Thanks

I prefer POP to ASSp.

The bus ride to the parks seem to be better from POP.

There are 3 monorail loops. The first one, the "Magic Kingdom" loop, runs between MK and the TTC (parking lot for the MK) in a counter-clockwise direction and only stops at the 2, although it goes to all 3 monorail resorts.
The "resort loop" runs the same route but clockwise, stopping at TTC, Polynesian resort, Grand Floridian, MK, Contemporary Resort, then TTC again.
The 3rd loop is the "epcot" loop and runs between the TTC and Epcot.

So, there are only 3 monorail resorts, as mentioned above.

The Pop Century hotel is probably the furthest away from MK but the bus ride is not bad at all. We were there 2nd week of September and really enjoyed it. I don't think it needs to be noisy - we are fairly quiet people and if the food court was too busy (we only ate breakfast at the hotel anyways) we took the food on trays to the bowling pin pool where they have tables with umbrellas, or ate in our rooms.

I think you will enjoy it. Have fun!

We stayed at POP in Jan/Feb 2004 and loved it...staying there again in February....The location in WDW is great in my opinion...we always use our own vehicle and find it very easy and fast to get around

Well, it looks like I'm the one with the differing opinion here! I think it all has to do with personal likes and dislikes. I did not like Pop. It was full to capacity when we were there, but we didn't hear any noise from the neighbouring rooms. But, I found it just too crowded. The "closeness" of everything was nice (short walk to food court, bus stop) but it just felt like we were jam-packed together. We had to run for empty tables in the food court and again being of differing opinion, none of my family was very impressed with the food. We had to wait at least an hour at MK for a bus and the only time we got a seat on the bus (to or from the parks) was if we let people bypass us at the front of the line and we waited first in line for the next bus. And this was all during what was supposed to be a low attendance time at WDW!
