Has anyone stayed at the Marriott Cypress Harbour, have reservations...

I noticed that you have Marriott's Grande Vista listed for a July '08 trip, so if you've already been there this month that'll give you some context for Cypress Harbour.

Cypress Harbour is an older and smaller resort than Grande Vista. However, the resort's villas have very recently been refurbished and are quite like the newest units at Grande Vista. However, the room configuration of 2BR units at the two resorts are a little different. The major difference between the two is for the second bedroom. At CH the second bedroom has one (queen, I think) bed and a pull out sofa bed. Because of this configuration, when the sofa bed is out the flow of the room is affected and it seems much smaller than the GV second bedroom. I think that makes it a bit tight if the second bedroom is being occupied by four people.
Grande Vista has an on site sit-down restaurant (Nick's) while Cypress Harbour doesn't have that type of feature.
We like Cypress Harbour's cozier, more laid back feel and the mature landscaping at the resort that adds to the atmosphere there. We also have found that the staff at Cypress Harbour have been more accomodating to our requests for location at the resort than the staff at Grande Vista. Otherwise, the people that we've dealt with at both resorts have been very nice and helpful.

I continually go back and forth on which resort I like the best as I like both of them quite a lot, but we're anxious to return to Cypress Harbour for our Winter 2009 trip to Orlando so I guess that one is my favorite right now. :)

We were there earlier this year. Here is our review from the review section above:

It is a great resort.

We are considering a stay at CH next summer. I enjoyed reading your trip report. Can you tell me about the "island pool"?

What kind of food options does CH have?

We adore Cypress Harbour. It reminds us of Old Key West. You can see some nice pictures of Cypress Harbour on tripadvisor. We also enjoy Marriott Horizons which is across the street from Cypress. Cypress Harbour has refillable mugs like the Disney resorts. Our favorite pools are the quiet pool and the main pool by check-in. The island pool looks nice, too. Cypress Harbour has a grill and a pizza hut express. In the general store you can get Edy's ice cream and starbucks coffee (refillable mug program for this, too) and crispy creme donuts.

Here is an old link to some pictures of Cypress Harbour. Scroll down and click on the links:

The Island pool is at the center of the resort. It is slightly larger then the clubhouse pool and is in an L-shape. There is a water fall at one side. there are many chairs around and lots of tall trees so you can find shade if you want it. They only have a portible bar there and only at some times. There is also a sanna there and two hot tubs and two kiddy pools. The beach is also there so you can bring a chair down there and hang out by the lake. There is a bridge that takes you to the units or another bridge that goes across the lake to where the clubhouse pool is located and the main check-in building. the island pool is closer to the activity center so it is a shorter walk if you want to take advantage of one of the activities. What else can I tell you?

Hey~

I am a Marriott Fan. I have stated at almost all down there.

Yes it is True, the Referb Happened. And it is ongoing through out all the Marriott Resorts. From Grande Vista to Cypress.

Have you looked into the Villas on the Marriott Wold Center Resort? There are three different Villas there. And you have access to the World Center Pool as well.

Cypress is nice becasue it is right off of 4, accross the street from Sea World. But they all have their benefits~~~

All the Marriott Vacation Club Villa are all nice. Some are going under Referb, so just re-confirm you will be in a "new" unit.

All the Rates are just about the same for the villas.

Enjoy your Trip. ~

They have the standard Marketplace store with a limited deli selection and a selection of grocery items.
There's a Pizza Hut Express/ice cream/grille combo that's between the clubhouse and the main pool area. Pretty much the same as Grande Vista but I like the Copa Loca bar and grille at GV better than the grille at CH.
